DVD from KIT X!

Post by mordred »

I've been enjoying the DVD from Keep it true last April quite a lot during the last few weeks.

Wow... it's really great to have a souvenir like this from a great event you've been to. Professionally filmed, great sound and a generous selection with everything from one or a few songs by the smallest bands up to the riveting 16 song feature of the Jag Panzer gig.

The highlight for me on the DVD is Manilla Road, because it actually looks and sounds even better than I seem to remember! Maybe there is such a thing as being too drunk on a gig.
Anyway, I really think Hellroadie has improved his whole act. I loved his vocal performance already on the DVD from KIT II in 2004, but to be honest his clothing and whole stage appearance was a little out of place back then. He looks more low key here just wearing plain black leather and his whole stage prescence is a lot better and more appropriate. I hope I will be able to get to HOA this summer to see them again, Manilla Road is truly heavy and mighty on stage.

And were Jag Panzer a crushing live band or what? Harry Conklin must be one of the best front men around these days. From the first song and throughout the set he simply holds the entire crowd in his hands and the singing and screaming is flawless too. Also, to have this document of Harry Conklin and Bob Parduba dueting through "Shadow Thief" is a real treat.

Anyone that went to KIT but didn't obtain the DVD yet, do so.

That's true. I had underestimated him a tad, but his performance at KIT was excellent, unarguably one of the best choices for the vox in Manilla Road. If only he avoided getting dressed in that hawaiian outfit so often...

As far as the Conklin/Parduba duet is concerned, that's one of the strongest memories i have from KIT, an unforgettable stage show.

Must get that DVD asap.

My favorite moment from KIT X is probably Dan's reaction to Jag Panzer playing the first chords to Generally Hostile. He went totally bananas

And Jag Panzer were amazing. I was totally finished at the time, but they kept me conscious which was quite a feat at the time.
I know I ain't doing much,
doing nothing means a lot to me.

Is audience mixed more up than on the KIT X LP? As my favorite memories from that KIT are when I was in photopit listening to audience singing along to Attacker&Omen. I still get cold shivers from those memories! Same with Jag Panzer and Generally Hostile.

This is a great 2DVD set. Manilla Road doing "Masque of the Red Death by the Hammer of the Witches Brew" is not only a great running order for song titles but also an amazing performance. Titan Force, Battle Ram, Attacker, Omen, Demon Eyes, etc. - high quality as always.

Does anyone have a track listing for the 2DVD set for KIT XIII + IV? I don't have that one (neither do I have the first one, which seemed to be hard to get from the beginning), though I have seen it for sale online at SONIC AGE.

It's a nice set. Haven't gotten to see the whole thing yet, but Omen and the crowd devoured each other! As I remembered...
