Breaker - Get Tough.
Griffin - Flight of The Griffin.

I concentrated in EPIC/HEAVY/SPEED/POWER aka US Metal sounding bands and left out all pre-80s stuff, hard rock, doom, thrash & death.
Otherwise there would be stuff like PENTAGRAM, SAINT VITUS, NOCTURNUS, MORBID ANGEL, SLAYER, HOLY TERROR etc.
In no particular order
1. BROCAS HELM - Into Battle
2. CIRITH UNGOL - King Of The Dead
3. CEREBUS - Too Late To Pray
4. CRIMSON GLORY - Crimson Glory
5. DRUID - Seven Curses (It is that good you damn posers!
)
6. FATES WARNING - Awaken The Guardian
7. GRIFFIN - Flight Of The Griffin
8. MANILLA ROAD - Crystal Logic
9. MANOWAR - Sign Of The Hammer/Into Glory Ride
10. MAX PLANCK - Kill The Pain (Only demo in my list. Just couldn't let this one pass.)
11. MEDIEVAL STEEL - Medieval Steel
12. METAL CHURCH - Metal Church/The Dark
13. OMEN - Battle Cry
14. OVERKILL - Feel The Fire
15. QUEENSRÿCHE - The Warning
16. RIOT - Thundersteel
17. SATAN'S HOST - Metal From Hell
18. SAVAGE GRACE - Master Of Disguise
19. SAVATAGE - The Dungeons Are Calling
20. SHOK PARIS - Steel And Starlight (Title track is emotionally couraging
metal perfection)
.... wait there must be more!
21. ATTACKER - Battle At Helm's Deep
22. BLACK DEATH - Black Death
23. CULPRIT - Guilty As Charged
24. GLACIER - Glacier
25. HELSTAR - Nosferatu
26. JAG PANZER - Ample Destruction
27. KILLEN - Killen
28. SLAUTER XSTROYES - Winter Kill
29. PURGATORY - Tied To The Trax
30. TYRANT - Legions Of The Dead
Bands bubling under, could rise in future: Liege Lord, Energy Vampires, Coven, Gargoyle, Halloween, Ripper, Lords Of The Crimson Alliance, Inner Sanctum, Tension, Siren, Thrust, Psychotic Waltz, Prisoner, Salem's Wych, Emerald.

Seems there's lots more US metal I need to hear, like Heir Apparent for example. I don't think I ever heard them.
It's just that I am somewhat sceptical towards US metal at times. I love the epic and/or quirky stuff like Manilla Road, Brocas Helm or Cirith Ungol, as well as the stuff with the slightly progressive element to it, like Fates Warning, Crimson Glory, Queensrÿche or Savatage. But if it's just straight US power metal with high pitch vocals, like Helstar, Liege Lord or Attacker, I get easily bored.

Mordred i get what u mean about Attacker Helstar etc
there's another factor to consider about this, the 83-6 US metal (maiden/priest influences, more 'pure stuff) and the 87-90 US metal -much more distortion and technicality goes into it
since you mentioned helstar, the differences between burning star and nosferatu are a prime example of what i'm talking about

looking through all the lists i would sound repetitive in almost all my top 20...still i can mention my latest US playlists:
Lethal-Programmed
Bitch-Be my Slave
Tyrant-Too late to Pray
Militia-The Sybling
Leather Nunn-Take the Night
Chozzen Phate-everything from them, just perfect
Ruthless-Metal without Mercy
Culprit-Guilty as Charged
and talking about RIOT,just as most of you, THUNDERSTEEL is my all time favorite album from them, but im starting to develope a weird addiction towards FIRE DOWN UNDER

My favorite Riot albums are FDU and Inishmore. Thundersteel wouldn't even make the top 5!
Some favorites to add, most of mine have been mentioned already:
Beowulf - Slice of Life
Metal Church - Live
Trouble - s/t
and I doubt this one is allowed, although it has many "inherited" American characteristics:
Motorhead - Bastards
