The Flames of Hell LP would fit well here, since there's been so few copies that have shown up.

But because it is so rare I don't think you can call them obscure anymore. Being a mythically rare record sure got their name out there.

The most obscure release ever makes me think about discussion if Inquisition - Anxious death MLP did or did not exist. Ofcourse, now we all know it exists and we've all seen copies on ebay, but when I just got into metal it seemed like no-one in Europe ever saw one.

I NEED to hear this!
Agathocles stated them as one of their influences. Maybe Noisenik or Sovdat can get the recording...
Well, why doesn't someone ask Jan AG for a dub? He's a very friendly guy. God knows what kind of unheard and unknown tapes he has in his archives, whenever you get an obscure tape of the late 80's/early 90's he's usually on the thankslist.

Unfortunately I don't have anything from S.L.O.D. - to be honest, it seems that they never even existed here in Slovenia, no-one knows nothing about them, no one would even talk about them if they weren't on metal-archives ... Well if the demo actually exists, then it should be found in Boco's countless demo collection, but I haven't heard from him in a year or so ... However I do remember that one guy used to list numerous demos in the trading board section, and this S.L.O.D. demo was included there ... Well, if you get the mp3s then please upload it, will you :)
The most obscure Slovenian release related to metal should be a demo by an HR/HM band from Krško, with Miran Rudan in it, but then again I really doubt that they made any :/ Even the band existence is based on rumours ...

:D

My question is: What is the most obscure release that IS in YOUR collection?

Sovdat: I first heard about S.L.O.D. some eight years ago (I have been asking around about them ever since), and a year or so after that I remember having a conversation with Nifelheim's Erik/Tyrant about it; he said a friend of his had the tape or had heard it, I don't remember anymore. Hope the mystery will be revealed soon and the music is not crap.
Mongolian bands seem pretty obscure. My mom was in Mongolia in the 80's and from her stories it did not sound like a Metal country at all :D
The most obscure release I have must be a 1993 demo by a Cuban Death Metal band called Sectarium. It's great stuff actually, sounds like a mix of Morbid Angel, Hadez, Mortem and Beherit.

Hmmm... I think Flames of Hell fits perfectly for both rare and obscure (how much details we really know about it?) cathegory, even if many people tend to slag it nowadays. Probably those people slag it who got to know the band with mass hysteriah since 2005 or so. I remeber I asked years ago from BIG scene people about FOH and nobody knew it, people who did GODLY zines in 1985-1990 and had all the inside info (not ALL it seems). They said it can not be otherwise they would know! People who had Exterminator (Bra) and Parabellum vinyls in Europe when those were released!

Same goes for Inquisition LP. I did not buy the re-issue from NWN! when it came out because I had the original vinyl and I am from Europe :)

So, my vote goes for Flames of Hell.
2nd would be Christ Blood demo.
3rd would be Executioner (Florida) EP (well, now its re-issued as bootleg, but some years ago I had to send svcans or pix to some dealers/fans to prove the existence of the EP. I think I sent scan to Dan also in 2002 or so. ;)

I think the Salem demos fit well too. Considering the age and origin and imaging how the recording session of these looked like

Anyone owns an original Abhorer demo? I want to know how it looks

There are tons of awesome demo bands that are still completely....nowhere. I mean, I think the most obscure bands with real releases wouldnt be known by us to mention in a topic like this. There are bands with long discographies of demos with NOTHING known about them (members, dates, releases, etc). Bands like BLASPHEMY, SYRENZ, TORTURED BY DISGUST, MATRIXX, ROTTERDAM, etc are nowhere to be found. No comps, nothing but demo tapes, next to no info. I heard Matrixx described as "ASS KICKING METAL ON THE RAMPAGE!!" in an old zine but havent found shit about them. I think bands like that are really the most-obscure...

Deathster, I just listened to that Christblood demo and I must confess it was some of the worst stuff I heard in years. The sound was so bad it made it unlistenable!
