Human communication is welcome, but if bands like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath etc felt the same way too, i might not have discovered heavy metal yet.The reason I personally don't sell or print large quantities of my music is because I don't want a large and faceless audience, I want human communication, if at all possible face-to-face as well. I'd rather have 10 real people (as in people I've met and gotten to know personally) appreciate what I do than 1,000 faceless theoretical fans. I can understand therefore why another band would not want to see their music as a product. Not to put anything in ToM's mouth of course, just giving an alternate viewpoint.
The bands should have in their mind that there might be people that they will never see face to face who will listen to their music and like it maybe more than those they know pesonally and communicate with. For me, the most important thing is the music to be heard, communication and all the other things come next. It doens't mean much to me if you have contacted and met the band in order to receive their material, you might as well be a fuckin' hypocrite who just wants to get that soon-to-be-rare stuff and sell it later or you simply want to show off. I'm not saying that this is the case with ToM and their fans, i'm only saying that it's not 100% safe to say that all "fans" really like and listen to the band's music.
Anyway, i won't continue this conversation and i won't change my mind about ToM. I really don't care about their stuff and i don't want to be a fan of a band that plays exclusively for me and 49 others. I don't want to be a part of that 50 copies thing no matter how good or bad their music might be. I'm not asking you or anyone else to think the way i do, it's just my opinion and i'd like to keep it. If a band needs only 50 fans, i don't need the band at all.
