ONE new must hear band

New bands, new releases, new metallic events, reissues, post-millenia-Metal in general...

PEDO!
But really, I would say Funerot, mainly their LP. Obscene Gesture is pretty cool for old school Hardcore fans, and if you're into Death metal, I reccomend a new Finnish band called Coprofagi. But I don't think I've heard any that is really a MUST.

I'm loving GRAND MAGUS just now, their new album "Iron Will" is astonishing.
Great singing, Rainbowesque leads, thunderous epic tunes, awesome stuff.
So yeah, Grand Magus.

seconded, thirded, whatever. magnificent band. period. and I know that without even having heard this album. which will crush me utterly. tomorrow hopefully. and who knows where they still might go?

I was also considering Ogre and Valkyrie. sheer brilliance in all departments. the one band limit is a serious challenge.

me too, but as you said, they don't really count. 'the gathering wilderness' is their magnum opus so far imo. TGoS and Orodruin are then definitely also worth a mention, although another album would do much to cement the position of the latter. oh damn, I suck at this one band thing.

Sovereign I have not heard. will check them out asap. just like Tales of Medusa. although asap might in this case be longer than I would wish, considering their distribution ethos.

I think I must agree with Dan. Helvetes Port is such a great and unique band that they are probably the one I pick.

a few I would have chosen (if only there wasn't the one-band-limitation) have been mentioned yet so I go for one that hasn't: POWERWOLF !

in spite of all the fake and the ludicrous image, I earnestly think this is an awesome band!

A band that debuted in 2000 is freakin' eight years old already...

Best new bands in the last year or last two years would be Portrait, The Lamp of Thoth, Hour of 13 and Atlantean Kodex.

Repugnant probably put out the most devastating full length for me in the 2000's so far, its shame it was the last. Im really liking what Im hearing by The Devil's Blood. But Eidomantum is who I have the most hope for. Their Fear the master/Black Aura 7" is the best thing I've heard still since its release. Looking forward to their full length the most.

2000 isn't very new, that's 8 almost 9 years ago now.

New is within the last 2 years I would think.

Yeah, I know 2000 is not that new. But it's easier to think about new as in a new century or something... Everything is relative, he he.
