Seriously though, the reason might be that most of that broke in the mid 80s and there was a time cap set in the first post (?) After all, there ARE quite a few US bands mentioned here.

5 out of 15 tracks (that's 33%) are US Metal perfection. How is that anti-US metal? I think it's pretty reasonable. Also "comp"? What is it, a toothbrush disguised as a compilation?

I switched the Heavy Load track because I needed a bit more speed at that point of the compo to sustain after Ace of Spades. It ends 'side A' so to speak and then Manilla Road do the honors for 'side B'. I also switched Gotham City for Pagan Altar and chose Night Rider because not only it's very beautiful a song, it's also about Persephone and dad digs that sort of thing. On the back of the cd I'll write an emblematic piece of lyric by each band.

I am still reserving a spot somewhere for the Flower Travellin Band. This is getting awfully close to 70 minutes I think, heh.

This one seems already complete and a longer one would probably be too much, but I'd replace some of the tracks there and put Deep Purple (probably Space Truckin'), Pentagram (Sign Of The Wolf), Angel Witch (Angel Of Death), Satan (Blades Of Steel) and maybe one or two more.

How many of you have dads who would listen seriously to a metal compilation their son would make? Dads who are already heavy metallers are excluded.

Mine is into jazz (dixieland, swing and some not too advanced bebop...).
I remember when I was getting into early Sabbath (mid-eighties) he commented that it sounded like some old church music - something which I kind of thought was nice... "Parallel quints" - only 8 hits when googling. What's the term I'm looking for?

Satori by the Flower Travellin' Band is quite enjoyable for me (vocal melodies! riffs!) but it seems to reference Black Sabbath too much to deserve the title of 'archetypal'. What good would it do to them to go in a compo right next to 'Black Sabbath' by Black Sabbath, other than to denote that 'I know my shit' (which I don't, also. I wasn't aware of Flower Travellin' Band before this thread!'). So I guess I'll have to keep that one for myself
