On The Road Again

Post by Cochino »

I don't know if this has been made before, but I was just checking out the great compil' that was the result of the "best female vocals" discussion and I thought we could do one about songs to listen on the road, with adrenalin running through your veins and the wind blowing between your hairs.
The first two songs I can think are Metropolis of Manilla Road and There Ain't No Running Away of Hand Of Doom. Any other suggestion?

I was thinking and there could be two different approaches to this. One would be the already mentioned "Born To Be Wild" kinda thing, but also one could travel in a bus, or a train for example, and the feeling is absolutely different, more melacholic in my personal experience, so maybe we could throw name for both situations.
For this second case Black Hole's Demoniac City comes to mind.

I was just listening to Medieval and Blood And Anger is a very "on the road" song.

Yep, that's true. But that one sounded specially black-car-dude-with-leather-jacket-and-sunglasses-and-a-shotugn-in-the-desert kinda song.

can't think of the song titles but there are a couple V8 songs that fit the bill.

Also, THE road song: Motorhead "We are the Road Crew".

Actually (and I'm sticking my neck out a bit on this one), in my opinion AC/DC is the best band to drive your car to. Especially the Bon Scott albums. Mean, fist-clenching, blood-pumping rock'n'roll - you just can't beat that feeling when blasting it on your car stereo. Personal fave: "Sin City". I could drive from here to Africa just listening to that song.

Other favourites: "Free Country" by Witchfinder General, ANY song by punk rock band ZEKE (but be careful, or you will be caught speeding!), or Turbonegro. I tend not to listen to metal in the car, as it will cause me to lose my focus on driving somewhat. :D

Basically, just mid-tempo stuff (with the exception of Zeke). If it's too slow I'll fall asleep at the wheel, if it's too energetic I'll lose focus.
