Wax Python

Post by Astra Wally »

Hi there!

Does anybody familiar with this obscure belgian band?

http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=125297

I've managed to contact one of the band member some days ago. He said me Wax Python was the very first heavy metal band in Belgium (formed in 1979)...
An interview is in the works. I'll keep you informed.

I still need to listen that damn Lp though. Any pics, scans or wathever is of course highly appreciated.

Cheers

Cool, a "new" unknown band from one of my fave Metal countries.
Never heard of, but some quick googling shows Forgotten Steel are selling a copy on Gemm. This guy is a member here (Omen Of Steel) so maybe he knows more?

Seems they were featured on a compilation from '83 called "Metalmania Vol. 1" too. Another new one to me. Time for our resident Belgians fill in the blanks me thinks.

And welcome to the forum 8)

It seems that they have released two albums and a single between 1981 and 1984. Their guitarist formerly played with ABLAZE, a well
known belgian band from the 70's.

I have the Metalmania vol 1. collection, where WP is indeed featured on . (I promised to rip and upload this one ages ago, maybe when I finally find the time). The track on there is nothing special and not really metal. Don't know about their other stuff though.

Interested in reading that interview, so keep us up to date!

I know Tomas has a Wax Python-LP, but I think he's on a trip. From what I remember it sounds like proto-metal with punk-influences (The Stooges more specific). Not bad!

Prices are quite steep though. You should fork out around 80 euros in Belgium for this album.
I know a shop that has 4 copies, 85 euros a piece. Tomas paid a little less. The cheeky bastard overbid me in the last second.

Yeah they are expensive. The Squash Me 7" recently sold for just over $40 on eBay, even though both sides are LP tracks.

Ouch, I've totally forgotten that damn intie.
I started the translation yesterday.

I've done an SCAVENGER (bel) interview as well. I thought to write a paper zine a few months ago but I'm desperately short of ideas, time and funds to do it so I'll share this interview on this forum if anyone is interested.

Yes, I have that album. Great stuff! Hard-rocking proto-metal with a speedy punk edge. Raw guitar sound too. I think I paid 46 euros.

If I can, I'll rip a few songs at a friend's place tomorrow.
But does it slay witches?
