Lyrics in another language

Post by tomas »

If you own some metal LPs with lyrics in a language that you don't understand, you've probably wondered 'What the hell is he talking about??'
Do you think or guess what the lyrics could be about or do you just let it pass?

I'm listening to Master's Hammer 'Ritual' LP and I'm very curious to find out what this guy is singing about. He must be talking about weird topics because the music is just too abnormal and special. Does anyone know?
But does it slay witches?

I dont know what their lyrics are about, but I'll always remember the picture which was on the original first Czech pressing of Jilemnice Occultist - the whole band sporting Duke Nukem hairdos, hawaiian shirts, and flip-flops under some palm trees. I was shocked and only years later I did find the band was fake and the only real member "hired" friends from a jazz orchestra to help him out... which in a sense did create the best black metal album ever coz those dudes had no clue what to do and created something unique.

It'd be really great if we had people from all over the world translating parts or all of their favourite HM records from their own country. Sadly there's not much greek-sang HM but what little there is I am available on request for translations.

I've in the past made norwegian friends of mine translate stuff like the first Fleurety and whatnot so I'm always interested in what is being sang in good records. I'd love to know what Ritual and the Occultist are about.

I am asking people in countries that I am visiting about translations of song titles and parts of lyrics as soon as I get the chance. The idea of having a lyric translation thread or even database is cool, as long as it there is some kind of structure and editing possibilities to make it as accurate as possible. I would definitely like to take part of Master's Hammer lyrics and similar in full...

In the meantime,

Agree with Helm and others here. It would be great if we could translate stuff for eachother. I got the Phoenix (Romania) albums on CD from a Romanian friend and he translated EVERYTHING for me. Was great to know what the bio said, what the songs were about and so on.

If you find anything in Norwegian (or Swedish or Danish for that matter) I'll help out with translations. There are lots of people here who can do that though.
I know I ain't doing much,
doing nothing means a lot to me.
