Well,his name appears on the credits of the song(the one of the two songs his name is indicated on the credits,the other one being The Call Of Ctulu-he actually uses the opening chords in Hangar 18)

If anything Metallica sounds like Megadeth, not literally sound-wise, but idea-wise. Mustaine played a huge part in "Kill 'Em All" and you can defiantly tell that come "Master Of Puppets", Metallica ran out of Mustaine ideas/riffs/structures, which is what caused Metallica to drop down a tier or two in quality for the next couple albums before eventually doing their crash-and-burn.

I'll second the Addictive and Slammer suggestions. Both may be slightly more aggressive in sound, but do sound close. Mortal Sin's first two albums are also quite similar. Earthquake's two albums sound like Justice and the Black album mixed together. Blackend took the Justice sound and made three albums that sound like it.

"The Truth" sounds like total "Black Album" worship.

Although, they were both released in the same year...

I see your point about Metallica though I don't agree (Master of Puppets is their best IMO) but I have never understood this talk about Metallica running out of Mustaine's riffs. If that's what they did, then why did Mustaine run out of them himself too? If Dave Mustaine wrote most of Kill 'em All, then why didn't he put out anything of the same quality as his debut album, instead of the fart he put out.

This may sound harsh, but in my opinion Megadeth is an over rated band that no one would give a flying rat's ass about if it weren't for the fact that their guitar player once was in Metallica.

It's a killer combination. They ran out of Mustane riffs and they ran out of Cliff Burton. That's two thirds of the talent in the band.

Also Megadeth may be overrated. But Rust In Peace and Peace Sells are such AMAZING overpotent supercharged KILLERS of records that I would never mind.

I like Megadeth way more than Metallica. I'll take a "Tornado of souls", a "Take no prisoners" and a "My last words" over "Battery", "Phantom lord" or "For whom the bell tolls" any day and any hour of the week.

Well, "Kill 'em all" slays. And 4-5 more tracks from the rest of their discography. As far as i'm concerned of course. Is that enough to start claiming "i like Metallica"?

in fact, despite everything, Metallica have always been my favorite band from Kill 'em all on and I never lost them, although there is obviously no sense in discussing this..

BUT (and OT): even I begin to hate them in a way, just at this very moment as I try to access that goddamn ticket presale website for the record release (party? concert? ) here around my corner which is nothing but a pain in the ass. Plus, all that bullshit they do with the preordering the new album, makes them fuck up a lot of credit..

I might be willing to go as far as admitting that Megadeth did one decent record, that one being Peace Sells... In no way is it as good as anything Metallica did in the 80's, but sure, it's a decent album. But the thing is, zillions of bands made decent records, but usually they didn't sell a fraction of what Megadeth did because their guitar players' careers didn't briefly cross paths with that of a good band.

I doubt if Megadeth would even have scored a record deal if they wouldn't have had a guitar player who was "ex Metallica". I know at least that if I had been a label executive and they had shown me Killing is my Business I would have told them to fuck off.

Rust in Peace? Never did that much for me, some decent ideas, but in no way is any of the songs good enough to be considered for inclusion on an album like Master of Puppets for instance.
