edit: I have hear the Demolition Hammer one, but not the rest.
Hard to compare really. I'd say European styled thrash with hints of power and speed metal. Vocalist has a nice aggresiveness (can't understand a word he's saying though, as it's all in Basque).
Vulture - Easier To Lie
I'd say slightly more Bay Area styled. Heavy, stomping thrash. Fairly simple but effective riffs. Smooth vocalist that can switch from gruff lower registers to higher screams and shouts easily.
Rosicrucian - Silence
HEAVY thrash with hints of death-ish vocals. Occasional technical tendencies. European style of thrash.
Usurper - Divine Spiritual And Intellectual Development
European thrash, kinda rough around the edges (but never sloppy). The odd occasional technical approach (mostly in the tempo changes). Powerful, lower-register vocalist.
Channel Zero - Channel Zero
Razor sharp European thrash. Entire album utilitzes tempo changes (from fast thrashing to mid-paced stomp) effectively.
Mottek - Fatal Violence
Used to be a hardcore band that put out a total thrash attack here. VERY SMALL traces of hardcore past can be heard (mostly in the vocals). Mostly mid-paced in their approach, though there are some high-speed antics in several places.
Fallen Angel - Faith Fails
I'd be tempted to say more Bay Area than European (though you can here bits of both scenes). Nice mix of rampaging thrashers and mid-paced stompers. Singer can sound kinda weird sometimes (thought it was a woman when I first heard it! haha).
Archaic Torse - Sneak Attack
Germanic thrash with hints of death metal (in the vocals mostly). Heavy as shit. 2 vocal styles used (a death-y growl, and a typical thrash shout).
LawShed - Let Us Not Talk Falsely
Bay Area thrash from Japan. The whole album is pretty much fast-paced with some slower mid-paced moments here and there. The accent is funny as hell, but the singer has a pretty good, powerful voice.
Equinox - Auf Wiedersehen
Tech-thrash. Singer has a nice low-register shout. Pretty good amount of tempo changes from song to song (and IN each song). Not technical to the point of losing any hook in the riffs, though.
Devastation - Idolatry
If you like the Demolition Hammer disc, you should like this. HEAVY HEAVY HEAVY. Thick, rich production, aggresive and rabid low-register vocals, double-bass kick everywhere, and plenty of crushing riffs.
Dover Trench - Exibition Of Speed
This is total thrashing madness. Kinda like Wehrmacht (minus the hardcore influences), but more memorable. 2 songs show an almost progressive influence. Plenty of speed, but some mid-paced moments show up. Vocalist lets out some INSANE screams sometimes!
Dorsal Atlantica - Musical Guide From Stellium
Brazilian thrash. Fast-paced most of the time (the odd mid-paced moment here and there). Voice something like Max from Sepultura (around Beneath The Remains era). Aggressive, but tight musicianship.
The Mist - The Hangman Tree
Brazilian thrash, but with a slight twist. The album is mostly mid-paced, but with effective speed breaks thrown in. Vocalist is.....odd. Gruff sound, but slightly higher-register. He sounds like he's in pain (odd description, but it's the best I got). Very dark and depressive mood on this album.
United - Human Zoo
Bay Area thrash from Japan. Violent moshing mixed with mid-paced kick. One ballad like track (sticks out, but it's actually kinda decent). Thick Japanese accent, but the vocalist has a nice gruff and aggressive voice.
Terror Fector - Everlasting Hell Damnation
Imagine if you will Demolition Hammer and Slayer (Hell Awaits era) were fused together. This would be the result. Heavy, fast, and oft-times violent thrash. Vocalist has a Japanese accent, but not as thick as previous Japanese bands mentioned. Usually sticks to full-throttle, but some slowdowns here and there. One VERY long track on the album (almost 11 minutes) but it doesn't get boring.
Probably the best I can do for you right off the top of my head, and late at night (where I am).

Interesting picks of japanese thrash. I don't really care for either of them because I'm not a big fan of Bay Area sound and I find the vocalists from both bands quite boring. I maybe have to give LawShed another chance though.. and I do love United's first ep but that is more like Judas Priest & NWOBHM influenced Heavy Metal. Well opinions are like assholes and all of that. My thrash picks from the land of the rising sun would be:
Sacrifice - Crest Of Black
This album gives us some really doomy and evil THRASH. The tempo is usually slow or midpaced but there are some fast and furious "burst out headfirst" songs too. I like this album a lot because it's so moody but doesn't get boring.
Gargoyle - Misogi
Weird ass proggy thrash with influences from classical music, hard rock, jazz and satan knows what! The singer can sound a little funny at first but when you get used to the vocals it's the killer. Time changes, neo-classical solos, weird GRUFFY vocals, great thrash riffs but occationally some non-metal parts too that you either learn to love or hate.
Shellshock - Mortal Days
Thrash Metal with some Hardcore/Crossover tendencies. The singer has a ruff, crispy and pissed off sounding voice.
Jurassic Jade - War By Proxy
Very angry and very violent thrash metal with harsh female vocals. They attack like a knife penetrating your intestines.
Rosenfeld - Pigs Of The Empire
Also very violent and evil sounding thrash metal. I prefer their demos because the vocals here are messed up with studio effect that makes them sound even more harsh but at the cost of melody. Some of their songs work better as demo versions because there are really great melodic vocal lines there. Anyway this album still rocks and has an original sound to it imo.
I think that it was the demo & ep field where japanese Thrash Metal really shines. Rommel, Rosenfeld, Casbah, Ground Zero, Harkenkreuz, Raging Fury, Doom..

Yeah, "Slaughter In The Vatican" is savage beyond words, extremely chrushing and straight in the face. Someone mentioned "Epedemic Of Violence" by Demolition Hammer? Also Recipients Of Death is ravaging. But nothing beats the shit out of Holy Terror 2 masterpieces: savage, destructive, melodic, unique and flawlessly executed. That band will never be topped, NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dead on. It's almost weird how so much JPN-Thrash turned out generic & mediocre even in the early days, but then you have these delightful little gems...the erlking wrote:I think that it was the demo & ep field where japanese Thrash Metal really shines. Still, the 3 greatest Thrashers will always be: Killing Technology, None Shall Defy and Suffering Hour

I'd actually agree with most of these recommendations too. I've not heard Mortal Days from Shellshock, but I have heard Protest and Resistance. From your description, it sounds a great deal like Mortal Days apparently does. Have you heard the Terror Fector album? They too are from Japan (don't know if you noticed that from my rundown). Quite good, if you haven't.the erlking wrote:Interesting picks of japanese thrash. When it comes to Shellshock, Mortal Days is definitely their finest hour and you should check out that for the sake of it. Nope I haven't heard Terror Fector but your description sounds good. Weird that I don't recall ever hearing anyone even mentioning their nameSideShow wrote:I'd actually agree with most of these recommendations too.
