censorship and customs
I just remembered something that happened to me years ago: I had ordered the *Dawn of the blackhearts* live in Sarpsborg LP of the (once) mighty Mayhem, the Lp cover has the infamous picture of Dead dead on it. Anyway I wait and wait for the package to arrive here in Ireland, eventually it does arrive. One problem: British customs had opened the package, searched the contents and decided that the cover of the LP wasn't to their liking, they had taken the cover and left me a note, saying it was indecent. Anyone else experience something like this?

...or grabbing a shotgun, blasting the custom's face, take pictures and replace the lost sleeve with the new one.Noisenik wrote:I can't believe I read about such bullshit. Men, I get really pissed off when they demand them f..ing bills. In your case I'd run out of mind. What have you done afterwards? Called a lawyer? Or a sniperist?

I've read stories from people at metal archives about Canadian customs opening mail for no reason and making up fake excuses just to charge people to get their package back from customs.Avenger wrote:Well, I'm going on 6 weeks for a parcel from Australia.
I'm just hoping that the same thing hasn’t happened to me...

I've had literally thousands of items mailed to me over the years and this is the longest I've ever had to wait and the first time that a parcel of mine (if that's the case) is opened by customs.Abyss wrote:I've read stories from people at metal archives about Canadian customs opening mail for no reason and making up fake excuses just to charge people to get their package back from customs.Avenger wrote:Well, I'm going on 6 weeks for a parcel from Australia.

I guess so, either that or customs can argue that the parcel was somehow "suspicious" and they had to take a more thorough check.Abyss wrote:How do you explain these people? certain provinces customs abuse the right to open packages to gain extra revenue by charging fees to get the items back?
I live one province in on the west side of the country, more inland, so it may be worse in provinces that border the ocean.
Very rarely have I ever had to pay duty fees on a parcel, unless, it's over-sized and not marked as a "gift" and sent regular mail.
I still highly prefer courier services when possible especially when it comes to expensive parcels.

I sure as hell hope that it dosesn't take that long.Nightlock wrote:Don't worry too much yet Avenger I had a package that just turned up from Germany after 4 or 5 months lost in the mail.
I'm going to be moving to another city in 5 weeks...
