It seems that metal-archives is having a crucial necessity on metalheads these days, I'm one of them. Whenever I want to check on one new band I'll go there, and also for some info forgotten on already known bands.

This makes me pick up on that old talk about paper vs internet that we had some years ago when zines/newsletters/papercatalogues and other paper undergound formats became rare.

Although I still buy a zine from time to time, it'll never be the same as it was in my teenager years where every week I had some underground publications on my mail.

These days we have some very useful sites like metal-archives, myspace etc.

How're your views on this issue.

Not only are people more reliant on a few, centralized information sources (metal archives, myspace, ebay) but people also retain less of the information; why remember it when you can look it up in 1-2 minutes? I remember the pre-internet days when you sought out info anywhere you could and you committed everything to memory.

Metal archives has so much false and missing info it is ridiculous. I look there of course for info but most times I have to consider anything there as basically being partially incorrect at the least.

I meant something more specific, like a site for punk, a site for psych rock, etc.
