Buying Metal Online

Post by Avenger »

Besides the obvious Ebay, GEMM and even possibly Amazon from time to time, what other websites do you find yourself frequently browsing for online metal purchases?

Which have you had good experiences with and which have you had bad?

Some of my favorites are listed here
http://www.maximummetal.com/buyingmetal.asp

The ones I ordered from there are
Sentinel Steel
The End Records
BlackMetal.com
Fye /wherehouse/second spin(use wherehouse for used stuff as suggested on maximum metal)

http://www.evillegendrecords.com/
http://www.rockadrome.com/superstore/index.php
http://www.nwnprod.com/index.php
http://www.stormspell.com/eng/index.htm(Iordan posts here quite often I recently got an order from him,his stock isn't the largest, but I got some albums I wanted for quite some time at the cheapest prices I've found anywhere).

I haven't bought anything here yet, but decibelrebel has recommended & tells me they are excellent!

http://www.hho-records.de/vinyl_metal.htm

& the gradings are apparently 'under-graded' ...so value for money is assured!

Actually I just made my first purchase through Ebay from the same place, but haven't received it yet!

Sonic Age Shop
Cheers - This is actually a part of Sonic Age Records, and holds thousands of rare and obscure heavy metal. With a focus on the 80s traditional acts, you can find all kinds of underground metal here. I recently placed an order with these fine folks and bought some really rare titles like Glory Bells, Heretic, Spitfire, and Hexx. If you are looking for those hard to find gems, or simply the new reissues that are coming out, this is the place to turn to. The band's site is well run with plenty of easy to use navigation. It has a shopping cart and also allows you to see the prices in US and Euros, a tool that comes in handy for American shoppers. I had my order within two weeks and they ship from Greece. Great people!
Yes, but all those "rare gems" are nothing but illegal pressings....

Yes, probably they are, but how can you tell that they are not doing it for "the love of music"? I have ordered several times from Sonic age, their services were absolutely perfect and they were really cool guys as well. Hard to believe that they are selling boots in order to make money. Sorry for reopening the old thread again, i hope you get my point...

Seems like as soon as a new bootleg is released all these guys trade shit between each other & then everyone is offering it around...
:(
..none of it is for the "love of music", otherwise they wouldn't be trying to run a business!

Except for King, coz he's my friend :D
but he's also a very honest guy & really loves metal! He makes absolutely no money from what he does.!
You can see the passion in his own bands!!!

hehehe, down the nails here! how can you claim that they don't do it for the "love of music"....and they do have lots of great items and fast as shark services...i know manos from 1995, when he was just a teenager, and believe me that he is well settled($$$),hehehe...although now this label is mostly run by kostas, while manos is in the army...

Kostas is my friend as well, he loves metal and he is an honest man. No problems with him at all. I can't believe he's selling boots for making money. All the others might be doing it for money, but Sonic Age, no. The releases and rereleases of Sonic Age are extremely well-made, very "professional", you can see the hard work and the passion in them. I wish people would stop accusing them, they have nothing to do with the real bootleg circuit.

As you can see, this discussion is going nowhere.

Well, I know these people for a long time, and I've made huge orders from them, and I will continue so, cause besides all they never caused any prob to me, everything arrived on time, in great contition, and always have a huge variety of underground material. After all, they are dedicated to Metal, and they have NOTHING to do with the illegal bootleg"circuit"...others"make"them, and some others(badly, bad they do) sell them..this is a part of their job, and is necessary for them to do so...I DON'T APPROVE IT, but I won't accuse them for anything, cause the Evil root is elsewhere...so, if we want to do sth for this"plague" we can just STOP buying boots, without accusing honest people who have dedicated their Lifes to Metal...

At least 50% of the Sonic Age stock are counterfeits and/or bootlegs. Comparable to Displeased Records, they both offer illegal stock and (on the positive side) provide great service.

well, they have huge legal material also...if someone will search, he'll find, you don't have to look at the illegal "side"...

Well, they have a counterfeit version of Trouble's S/T as bestseller with the following note:

"OK, we know. This has been on most CD collectors' lists for a long time. We managed to get a few copies of it and they're all still sealed."
They sell it as if it's the original.
