Best Metal Holidays Gifts

...that you've received?

About 10 years ago my parents got me a copy of the CRUCIFIXION 'the fox' 7" for christmas. A few years before that, they got me a copy of the DESOLATION ANGELS LP, which is still one of my favorite albums to this day

For me, those gifts were always a disapointment, back in the 80's, I've received STATUS QUO LP's and lots of shit like this, I have even received from an uncle a MODERN TALKING LP because "the guys had long hairs on the cover"  ! Most recently I've received a NIGHTWISH CD and a CRADLE OF FILTH box-set.

I prefer to receive some money and to choose my stuff by myself.

Nothing special, I always state specific things to buy with 'DO NOT BUY ANYTHING BEYOND MY SELECTIONS!' above and below my list.

My family has no means to get me any (Crucifixion) vinyls. It's hard enough for them to get Savatage, Iced Earth, Megadeth or other metal albums for sale on commercial mailorders/music stores...

Awful indeed. This reminds me of a situation I was in secondary school when I asked one girl to bring me inverted cross from one of her numerous trips over the border. I'd pay her afterwards. Well, next week came and I asked her about results. Then she produced a neat Poison (L.A.) schmuck and said it was a gift. Men, I was so embarassed I forgot to breathe while friends have laughed in schadenfreude. I doubt she knew could have killed me with this gesture.

If I remember correctly I never got an item proper as a present. Parents always wanted to drag me away from my sick attitude of buying music but I have transformed much of their money into it.

I lucked out on the Crucifixion; my folks found one of my mail-order fliers and noticed it was available, and apparently they had actually paid attention when I was raving about the band :) It helps that my dad's a record collector, so he's sympathetic about how hard it is to track down and get a rare record that you want

Worst ones I got.... friend got me Mastodon's 'blood mountain', an awful record by an awful band. I also got Soundgarden and Rolling Stones albums from an aunt when I was younger. In general, my friends/family have always been pretty good about sticking to my list and not buying me random albums. I droe one friend nuts by asking her for a copy of Bolt Thrower's 'realms of chaos'. She couldn't find it to save her life, so I asked her for it again the next year and she still couldn't find it :lol No it's not that hard to find, but she doesn't shoip online, so that made it tough :)

I also freaked out the aunt who gave me the Rolling Stones tape by asking her for a Napalm Deaath album. I didn't even really want it that much, I just knew she'd flip out a little bit at the name :lol

My parents and friends have given me set amounts of money for stuff that I found and couldnt buy on my own, which I really appreciate. For example, on Christmas one year my parents said theyd pay for a copy of a Brick Mistress demo tape that I found for sale and told them I wanted. Ive given my parents a "want list" with items and URLs where they can buy the stuff, because I dont want my parents to go out of thier way to buy a copy of something I already have or dont want (like the California MISTREATER lp). :D

I've been given cash for gifts for 10 years or more so I never had to worry about that, I always prefer a gift card or gift cert from certain distros or quite simply a prepaid credit card which is basically like a giftcard but you can use it anywhere the advantage is using it on online obviously.

I got an Eminem sweater from my parents few years ago, because they simply went to one shop (which had mainly metal stuff) where I once bought some metal shirts, and picked the one they liked the best. :?

A fake Slipknot wallet from my parents. I prefer it when they give me money...although the last time I got some money from them I had to promise not to spend it on records

There's this Swedish Prog/Psyche dealer who currently has a still-sealed copy of MISTREATER's "Hell's Fire" available for 200+ euros. I'm seriously considering bugging my parents to get it for me for Xmas. I'll be 10 years old over again :D

DaN- shouldn't you ask for a GOOD record for Xmas? :) Just kidding; I never cared for that Mistreater LP much; it's not awful, just doesn't do much for me
