I'm sorry, but that entire statement is completey absurd! You don't take ANY chances?!?!? Do you also not take chances with anything else in your life, like say women for instance... Do you only sleep with or date ones that your friends already have to know that they are "worthy" of your time, money, and attention???Abyss wrote:No thanks, I buy nothing without repeated listens of the album in its entirety, I do not take chances on any albums as that is stupid and could end up being a waste of money, I do not trust others opinions on albums in determining a purchase either, I am not dying to hear these releases so I doubt I will even hear them any time soon let alone buy them, nice try though.
How do you store your collection?

That is an absurd statement in itself, I can't afford to take risks If I take such stupid risks I am out money I could have used for a better album, Its completely logical for me not to take risks when buying music, anyone who says otherwise has a whole pile of albums that suck because they took too many risks and are bitter I am not doing the same.
You might as well just drop it you will not change my opinion, I will continue to download albums and listen to them before I buy and there is not a goddamn thing you can do about it.

Well, I'll be the first one to tell you that out of my collection I might have 15 crap records, and although my collection is by far NOT the biggest collection; I still tend to think that out of a 1000+ piece collection, 15 crap records is not a bad ratio and anything that I would consider a waste of money. If nothing else I gave a little bit of money to the band to help continue so that they might get better and eventually release a 10/10 KILLER album! Digressing bach to the subject... So now you ask how I managed to avoid buying up alot of crap albums? The answer is simple through reviews in zines, recommendations from other metalheads who's taste I respect. Which is quite simple by just asking people's opinion on forums.Abyss wrote:That is an absurd statement in itself, I can't afford to take risks If I take such stupid risks I am out money I could have used for a better album, Its completely logical for me not to take risks when buying music, anyone who says otherwise has a whole pile of albums that suck because they took too many risks and are bitter I am not doing the same.

I keep all my records in plastic sleeves (although the sleeves I use now get smudgy too quickly, I'm going to upgrade soon to the real slick super glossy ones after I move) with the inner sleeve/insert and record behind the jacket inside of the plastic sleeve... mostly to reduce ring wear and handling.

I guess I'm using a similar deal to the Ikea expedites, but I got these boxes for less than 5 bucks... I still need to sand and paint them though.
For my cassettes, I have 2 shelves that mount to the wall and fit 100 cassettes each, I only have 1 up right now because of lack of wall space.

CD's... don't have too many, the ones I listen to often are on top of a bookself, and the others are in boxes in the kitchen cabinets.

And to kickstart myself into the vinyl nerd status...
How do you store your records inside your protection sleeves? Do you remove the record from the sleeve? Do you let the opening of the sleeve coincide with the opening of the protection sleeve so you can take the records out easily, or do you put them inside the protection sleeves differently so no dust can get inside your vinyl sleeve?

I do leave the vinyl inside the sleeve, but I ALWAYS turn the inner sleeve up to reduce dust. As well as an outer protective sleeve for all records, even with picture discs I add an extra outer sleeve.

If you mean mine? I have an old Yamaha TT-400 rs, with a new pickup and some other new "parts". I want to buy a whole new player though, but the current player works out just fine.humus wrote:That's a Pro-ject Debut III turntable right? Are you happy with it?
