UPPER ECHELON - Surface Tension

Post by msp »

I have seen copies of this knocking around in a few places recently.

It looks intriguing. Has anyone heard this? Is it any good? Is it comparable to any other type of bands etc? They are a US band I think so does it have that kind of 80's US Metal sound?

Yes, classical 80s US Metal sound with the usual screams spread throughout the songs. Good stuff, but nothing too original/special IMO.

I uploaded it some time ago in the Poisonoise, don't know if the link is dead. I like that record very much, great thundering US-steel

Quite good, although side A is way better than side B.

Reminds me of CIRITH UNGOL somehow, although I can't really put my finger on why. It went for about $30 on ebay recently.

"Evil(songs)" + "Drivin'" are very good tracks, the other two are ok but nothing spectacular, so i'll have to agree with the previous post. No Cirith Ungol similarities spotted as far as i'm concerned though.

I think the first song reminds me of "100 mph".

A very good US metal band.Who's main influence are Judas Priest and remind them also. The vocals and the guitars are superb. Some tracks have some mean atmosphere and sudden cut points.I like it very much.Did someone has heard their 1983 demo?

I really like this one a lot, unique and great US metal in my book a cut above quite a few albums that go for a lot more $'s...

Powerful MLP, very catchy and memorable tracks. The unreleased songs are not quite up to the same par but still good.
