I missed out, had a quite busy last few weeks.
I definitely recognised that Mayhem track simmering in the back brain but wouldn't have recognised it in this mix, which seems to be a fairly common theme going on here
Nice to have you back Rob.
It seems that this particular Mayhem weren't quite as widely known as i'd thought, but Morbid Tapes & i knew them at least.
Time to reveal those few remaining unknown songs yet?
Personally I prefer the "As the World Burns" demo over the lp proper.
If you perhaps own the original cassette maybe you could clear this up Rob?
In the scans of the tape on discogs only 4 songs are listed on the cover yet both discogs & MA list 12 tracks. Has someone just erroneously copied & pasted the tracklist for the 2nd LP of that 2-LP anthology on F.O.A.D. (which has the same title as the demo), or were there 8 additional unlisted songs on the cassette?
Also, how cool is it that the Mayhem logo was the same upside down as right way up?
Just like the Angel logo.
I'm embarrassed that i hadn't noticed that neat bit of design trickery until right now.

Unfortunately I do not have the original tape, never seen a copy in the flesh.

I'd searched it out after you'd commented earlier about preferring the demo to the album & i've heard it a few times now.
The demo material's far more controlled & (in places) complex with much less of a Punk/HC influence. Whilst I enjoy the punky abandon of the LP's best songs, in time i can imagine coming to like the demo just as much. Thanks for the recommendation.

Yes of course I like the Mayhem lp for what it is. But the demo is a different beast entirely. More classiic metal that just scratches that olde steel itch.

I'm definitely coming round to your way of thinking with each listen.
