Awesome, the fresh update was a very pleasant & wholly unexpected surprise & as always it's a great read. I enjoyed your pitting China White A against China White B & you made the Texan Lust 45 sound very appealing indeed.
Interesting to finally see the Mercenary art at a decent size. I get that we're looking at a ruined New York, but in this dystopian future are we supposed to believe that half-naked amazon women patrol the city shooting guys with rayguns for daring to urinate in public?
Hoping this bout of renewed activity means your wife is now doing much better. Best wishes.

Thanks for yet another informative & often amusing set of reviews Khnud. As always, your work is very much appreciated. Most this time were new to me & you made the Holiday Shark 45 sound most intriguing with your description of a Judas Priest/Triumph mash-up. I simply can't imagine such a combo, but my curiosity is now truly piqued.

And don't pay too much attention to my musical comparisons, it's basically just what pops up in my head when listening, other folks might hear completely different bands.

Except that Doobie Brothers comparison, that one's pretty obvious.

Yup, obvious & utterly shameless. The mindless boogie of the B side feels like a more honest representation of where their musical hearts likely lay. It might sound like a hungover Status Quo outtake but there's a certain conviction to it & i refuse to feel guilty about enjoying it's irony-free bluster.Khnud wrote: ↑Tue Feb 25, 2025 8:39 pm Except that Doobie Brothers comparison, that one's pretty obvious.

I didn't quite get the Triumph/Priest vibe you detected in the Holiday Shark 7", but i think i was expecting the similarities to be in the vocals rather than the music, so i'll return to it again with a different mindset & see then if it moves me.

Unfortunately I will most likely take a longer break from this project. The truth is I’m absolutely appalled by the current US administration. It has chosen to abandon its allies and instead focus on embracing a murderous dictator, a wanted war criminal hell bent on the military conquest of his neighbours. Basically everything our fathers and grandfathers fought for during the last 80 years has been completely thrown out the window, in just a few weeks.
As a result I don’t have the slightest interest in promoting anything related to the US right now. I still have over 200 North American 45s left in my collection to review. Some known, some unknown. Some good, some bad. But everything has to wait. I know you shouldn’t mix music with politics, but this has simply gone way, way too far. And I believe it’s going to get even worse. My apologies to every decent American out there (I know there are plenty, still), but I just can’t do it.

I’m with you. When things go too far, we must feel and get involved.
Though I’m not too sure that all the people behind those records can be considered as responsible for what the current US administration is doing… When politics go this way, maybe there should be less time for fun…
Anyway, thanx for all your sharings!

No of course some/most US folks aren't responsible. As I said, my apologies to anyone who feels unjustly targeted by this.Kraignoss666 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 04, 2025 10:01 pm Though I’m not too sure that all the people behind those records can be considered as responsible for what the current US administration is doing…

I totally understand your sentiments Khnud. Yours is the sort of project that requires wholehearted enthusiasm to drive you on & if you're not currently feeling that you're probably wise to postpone until that positive impetus is restored.
Hopefully things improve sufficiently that it won't be 4 years until your next update.

It occurs to me that you could still do a few all-Canadian updates in the interim, (if your collection permits), just to keep the pot boiling.

Yes, I have considered this.bigfootkit wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 4:02 pm It occurs to me that you could still do a few all-Canadian updates in the interim, (if your collection permits), just to keep the pot boiling.![]()

But unfortunately US 45s outnumber the Canadians 10 to 1.

A reflexion from a decades-long, die-hard fan of Metal from even worse real dictatorships from all over the world:
Perhaps persisting to enjoy, celebrate and share our love for Olde Steel, independent of its origin or despite any current political discord will make us part of the Solution rather than the Problem in the long run?
