Re: Veterans of the Various-Wars - new Corro-comp-comp series
Will our hero finish Volume 3 in time for KIT? Only time will tell! The Corroseum wrote:...This time around I’ve put the spotlight on one of my absolute favourite Metal scenes and since I’m an almost-completist (yeah I’m fooling myself there really is such a thing..) collector of Italian Steel I’ve had plenty of material to choose from - in fact there’s more than a full CDR’s worth of stuff remaining for a future volume.
So, this is like, totally gonna rooooooooooool, right?? Um... well, it’s definitely a very underground’y collection of songs, meaning it’s also very amateurish and rough on plenty of occations. It needs pointing out that the purpouse of this series is not to make a Best-Of selection but instead to document the most obscure Metals ever put to on vinyl, with little regard to quality-control. With this caveat out of the way, I do hope/think most Obscure Metal-fans will enjoy it. C-U at Vol. 3 - it will be even better.

Another great effort Dan, you rule man! I particularly like the professional -cult- artwork!
As for the compilation itself, I've pointed out Hellbound and of course the two great songs from Steel Grave (GOW) that we already knew from the infamous Argento's movie (a cult classic).

Re: Veterans of the Various-Wars - Vol. 2 out now!
Thanks a lot for the new italian compi trax, Dan.
I've to say - italian metal is probably the rarest european metal stuff i still look for to listen.
Most of the bands who are known as recorded demos on the 80's - i almost quitted in looking
because the degree of rarity or possibility of listening it, it's too low.
Now it's a matter of seeing names on Metal Archives or to remember the defunct Stillo Strano site.
Even the still active italian metal collectors tell me the same - few copies, the few recorded
vanished with time or not even the ex-band members have it today.
And the few collectors who have most of those demos never dubbed it much and are not
active anymore. And the few who still have it, like the ones who released most of italian metal
books - don't share any of the stuff.
About these trax :
I already knew Steel Grave, Black Deal, Tegen Hart, Crom, Hellbound and Swords - but from other releases.
From the unknown ones - what surprised me more were Executor. Great stuff.
On the rest - when there's a good band, there's always a bad singer to kill it (Snake is a a good example)...
Cheers Dan.

Another fascinating listen DaN, thank you so much for your efforts.
This one's gonna take quite a bit of digesting, but from my intial few spins there seem to be quite a few instant ear-grabbers & several more will doubtless emerge with further listening. Nice to hear some unexpected parping 80s analog synths on there too.

Thanks for putting this together DaN. Brainhammer, Amoreen top stuff. Always begin a disc with the best!
Hemlock - Shot Through the Heart main riff sounds like the gang vocal riff from Avenger's Face to the Ground https://youtu.be/NlZYupwccns?t=56 I bet they were fans.

Glad you liked it, Nick! Say, you don't happen to have a dozen or so of these type of albums for a future Oz edition?

Re: Veterans of the Various-Wars - Vol. 2 out now!
I know the opening track!
Would have trouble filling a disc of quality I think though from just 80s Various Artists - Compilation tracks!
A mission though!
