Best Metalworks Release
Fans of filthy and horribly produced heavy/thrash, pick 3 of your favorite releases from the cult UK label. Anthrax/Acid Reign fans stay clear!!!
My picks are : Devil's Meat - Pray For War - At The Edge Of Damnation

Re: Best Metalworks Release
Haven't heard everything Metalworks has released, but "Pray For War" and the Deathwish-debut are great!
Kampel Destruction

Vulcano "Bloody Vengeance" & Incubus "Serpent Temptation" LP's.
"Do you like Wenom?"
Re: Best Metalworks Release
Deathwish the best for me. Tough because some of these records I have not listened to for years.

Could only pick one, & it had to be Deathwish. I do appreciate the oddity of Deliverance, the Slayerish qualities of Anihilated & the individuality of LC. Must echo Mahler's thumbs-up for the Incubus [NOLA] & Vulcano licences too.ION BRITTON wrote:Fans of filthy and horribly produced heavy/thrash, pick 3 of your favorite releases from the cult UK label.
Seeing Prophets of Doom on the list has spurred me to order that Prophecy demo comp at last. Cheers!

I didn't put them on the list on purpose - they were originally released on other labels. Technically they're still Metalworks of course and are both monumental albums. And it's hard to beat them as wellmalegys wrote:Vulcano "Bloody Vengeance" & Incubus "Serpent Temptation" LP's.

Yes, you should do that as it's some of the best heavy/doom created in the 80s! Their album as Prophets of Doom is not as great though.Ernest Thesiger wrote:Seeing Prophets of Doom on the list has spurred me to order that Prophecy demo comp at last. Cheers!

Re: Best Metalworks Release
My gut forced me to click on "Evil Friendship", then my brain remembered Deathwish. Yeah, "At The Edge Of Damnation" is simply PERFECT Thrash. The rest is mostly crap to my ears though. Maybe it's a bit too primitive & amateurish for my ears...
Worth noting about the Metalworks pressing of "Bloody Vengeance": The sound is much better than on the Braz original! I don't think it was remixed or anything, it's simply the pressing quality that is superior.

Re: Best Metalworks Release
I voted for the the two Anihilated albums and Force Recon.
I love Force Recon and the Anihilated albums are very good.
Deathwish was a very close 4th.
I would of voted for Incubus but agree with others that shouldn't count as it was originally released first on a different label.
