Wow that IQ ZERO - Murderer really kicks ass...it reminds me so much of Judas Priest and Rob Halford!

Wow, it really is the same band! Gonna drop them a line and ask for old demo stuff later in the week..

Edit: did anyone check out the mp3s from the page? Can't do it myself since the broadband connection at work is still down.

Had a quick listen to some of the tracks at a friend's place yesterday. Sounded like a pub rock take on "Painkiller"-era Priest. I've heard a lot worse from old geezers trying to reform in style, but nothing special, no..

Someone requested THE DUKE a week or 2 ago. Just uploading a measly 2-song rar file felt like a waste of time, so here's a full mix-CDR worth of utterly obscure Swedish Metal taken from local compilations, reups of songs previously posted here (IQ ZERO's incredible "Murderer"!, the cult HYDRA track, the godly IRONSIDE, the charm of GREENSLEEVES etc..) plus some new goodies (AXEWITCH's still unreleased 1st recordings, the unique and ultra-primitive WIZ, the lead-heavy INTERACTION, the epic BLACKBIRD) all must hears for true fans of old, primitive Heavy Metal.

Wow this comp sounds nice so I'm definitely checking it out. I really love old Swedish heavy metal!

Edit. I'm too sleepy to write a proper feedback atm but after the first listening I have to say that THE DUKE is amazing! I think their songs butcher everything else on this compilation.. or maybe along with that great song by Whirgin.

Thanx a lot for the upload Dan.
Wiz are outstanding with vocals and metal reminding the one from Crystal Pride.

Blackbird-Rise is a hymn!
Whirgin-Run Run Run a very good song.

Plus classics like Ironside,Duke,Witch,Hydra,Axewitch who have also heard before

less good tracks:Interaction,Greensleeves,IQ Zero

Upon 1st listen, everything on the Dan Comp sounded pretty good- no filler apparent at all.

Cool U liked WIZ. They're an accuired taste for sure and as far as SupermelancholicJuvenileGarageMetalRock goes those 2 racks are in a league of their own. Poor Bitte Hjälmås, you can clearly hear her heart breaking into a million bloody pieces at the end of "It Hurts" :(

So where's the odd Greek, Australian, American, Norwegian etc etc comp tracks then? Bring 'em on!

I enjoy all of the tracks though some are better than others. I think I like the Wiz, Hydra and Greensleeves tracks the most.
I agree that the vocals in Wiz fucking rule!
I was always really curious to hear a lot of this stuff after reading the reviews about the different Swedish metal compilations. I want more Hyrda though. I was listening to the other song "Heavy Metal Haven" on their myspace(found off of the Helvetets Port myspace)
Also a really fantastic song.

So many praising Wiz that I have to listen to them again. Personally I didn't find them so special and that is probably because I'm not the biggest fan of female vocalists in metal (despite some major exeptions).
