Favorite Judas Priest Album?

seems that no one cares for the good-old-commercial-oriented British Steel huh? well it was my first Priest record so it has special meaning to me, but i think it contains one of the best priest songs, "The Rage"

Maybe we "think" that we know it so well that we keep forgetting to putting it on? Steeler is the top of the lot in my humble opinion.

Their closest thing to a 'sell-out': Point Out Of Entry.
I choose to belive it was someone in their management who pushed them into this obvious flirtation with the US "radio rock" market. Thank doG for "Solar Angels" saving grace!

The album also turned out the way it did greatly due to the band being at the "height" of their career in terms of popularity and sold out venues. The album was recorded while on vacation in Ibiza with the band almost always highly intoxicated while writing the entire album and really not giving a shit.

I used to share a similar view but have changed since, it has a few throw away tracks but I generally think it's a pretty fine album the way it perfectly portraits that portion of their career and lifestyle, Traveling America by bus through the desert and basically just a ton more "on the road" type songs and atmosphere. Speaking of the re-release CD with the bonus track "Thunder Road" that has to be my favourite by far out of all of the unreleased Priest tracks! Blows everything else away written in the Turbo sessions by far, "on the road/big city nights" metal at it's best!!

This isn't an opinion. It's in the liner notes of the re-issue that I've read the scans of. I don't really think "Point Of Entry" is a total waste of an album, but there defiantly was a lack of effort in it's making.

Gotta go with Painkiller as well. What can I say, I'm a speed freak and that one just does it for me more than the rest. Not saying the majority of their catalog isn't excellent as well, but much of it has gotten a bit stale for me over the years, but I still love Painkiller as much as when I first heard it. My favorite song is Nightcrawler... can't help it

I thought the worst songs on Nostradamus were actually worse than filler - they were downright insulting and made me angry. There are some good moments on Nostradamus, but I don't think I'll ever listen to it again - to me it is really weak.

Seems to me you simply have to do with Nostradamus what you did with Rocka Rolla. I can't possibly see which songs would be that bad.

My only complaint is that the album is simply too long.

Painkiller for me. The fact that myself and others here agree that the title track is the worst on the album is a testament to its strength, because really the only thing wrong with it is that it's a bit too long for the amount of repetitive play it received. I also have to confess some nostalgia because while I was already very familiar with Priest's classic material, Painkiller was the first (and last) of their albums that I bought on release, and the first tour that I saw.

Stained Class is a close second though.

Bought it more or less directly after it came out.

My brother owned a few of the older albums. I liked them alot.
But when I came home from the record store and got to hear Freewheel Burning & Jawbreaker for the first time,
then I knew this was something else.
Since then "The Sentinel" has grown to be my all time Judas Priest favourite.

It was the first Judas Priest album that I bought, so it holds a special place in my heart for that reason too.

Excellent album!!

P.s Every single (Halford) Judas Priest album is candy for the ears

I meant that when you hear certain songs or albums by bands like Primal Fear, Cage, Gamma Ray, Persuader, Rebellion or Iron Savior and others, most people say "this is Painkilleresque". It created a kind of benchmark and inspiration, especiially the title track.
