Gotham City

Post by Fucking Åmål »

I personally think he is a top vocalist, his amateurish, heavy, straightforward is one of a kind voice.Where is he now?Why is it so hard someone to find him. What about some other members of the band? They can't have all of them losted contact each other.I know there are Gotham City fans who live in North of Sweden.Maybe they haven't searched enough?I don't know maybe if we find some original members they'll uncover for us more Gotham City stuff :D 8) How cool this would be!Their 7 recordings aren't enough for me, this band was genious and had it all.Their sound is as PRIMA sounded as it gets and that's one part that makes them sooo CULT.
DaN:Your in the future unfulfilled task for the Corroseumers will be a interview with Ola Ohlsson!!!What an inspiring,clearing-things-up interview will be.

Questions:
1)I have the live tape but without the questions made in Swedish by some interviewer. So my request has anyone of you the live tape WITH the questions?

2)What about that Gotham City reunion live will it be happened this year?

There were some vague leads about him having passed away recently, but I'm not sure, could have been a mix-up. Maybe P-O is more updated on that subject?

Will have to check if I have the complete interviews when I'm back home. Not sure. In any case it would be an interesting idea to translate them into English.

What you mean by this i don't understand make it more clearly please(Where is Ola Ohlsson today).
P-O is Per-Ola(Mordred).I just asked if we can do a new Gotham City interview preferably with Ola Ohlsson but with every other member would just be OK.Not the old interview in swedish from the live-tape.I just asked it only for upload because i have it with only the music.

It is cool to hear the Gotham City interview(from the live tape) in the original version(Swedish)
would you please have both Swedish and English?

I didn't see/hear it myself, but apparently there was an interview on TV or radio where an old GC member (Zackrisson maybe?) mentioned an old friend called Ola who had died of cancer recently. This ofcoure spurred a lot of speculations, but nothing is confirmed yet. So far no-one seem to know what happened to him after he left GC. In any case he wasn't very happy with having to leave the band.

An exclusive interview for The Corroseum sounds like a good idea. Would give me a perfect excuse to finally solve my FTP and e-mail login problems..

The rumour about Ola Ohlssons death is just a rumour. I don't know where he is, if he is still alive. Ola Ohlsson is a very common name, there are probably hundreds in Sweden. He could live anywhere in the country. So unless someone wants to call all the Ola Olssons until they find the right one... I'm not sure, but I would doubt that any of the other ex members have contact with him. He was basically fired from the band because they thought his vocals sucked.

As for the other ex-members, most are accounted for. Mårten Edlund still ives in Umeå, I did an interview with him some years ago. Anders Zackrisson also still lives in Umeå. He and Edlund have contact, I think they even had some cover band toghether. Björn-Erik Melander lives off composing and releasing relaxation music and thinks metal is shit. Jonas Östman is still drumming here and there. Last year he did an album with a band called Dark Illusion, together with among others ex-Candlemass singer Tomas Vikström.

As for other recordings: I think I did a pretty good job seeking out two unheard demo tapes and a live recording, so cut me some slack will ya. 8)

As for the radio interview: This was actuallyu NOT aired inbetween the 8 track concert recording, that's a misunderstanding. The live concert was aired without interruptions. The interview was a separate broadcast, during which they also played some Gotham City songs.

I didn't catch you.You mean there are two other demos apart from the three 81,83,86 demos?and second live?OK Ola Ohlsson maybe had very cool voice. But did he contributed in Gotham City enough? i think he wrote only a couple of lyrics. But i think the mainman or the band itself was Mårten Edlund he made almost everything about the band and played in all recording and i think he dererves the most praise in Gotham City members keeping a low profile.Only Mårten Edlund can revive the band so we must contact and convince him huh?

2 Disagrees with Gotham City fansite.
1)No importance paied to the meaning of Mårten Edlund in the band someone who reads the bios of the members he sees the image that he was not important. But that's untrue he were in fact the most important.
member of the band

2)Review about the demo 86: i think like all Gotham City tracks always slay.Ruth says that after 86 metal died(???!!!) so Gotham City did well and split-up because the two songs of 86 demo sounds like Europe( ??? ).Is he serious? Can we speak with the logical person.I think he hasn't even heard the demo otherwise he wouldn't said such a think. If these two songs are hard rock or Europe influenced then i am...
Gotham City if they survived more they could have written another masterpiecy album. That's the truth and i want to hear not from ruth!

Ah and the interview that's with Mårten i want to read it.

The truth is that i'm not GC's greatest fan, but that demo is the best thing i've heard from them. I cannot hear any Europe influence too (we're defintely talking about early Europe, is that right?). I just wish more GC tracks were like "Lost in time" :?

I think the '86 demo is surprisingly good. Sure, it's more melodic but not the total cop-out that 95% of the other Swedish bands went for at the time. Together w/ the unreleased songs of that live tape they could indeed have made a very potent 2nd LP.

No, there are no other demos. I think what Mr. Mordred are trying to say is that he can never get enough credit and praise for originally searching out those tapes who are now ripped and in heavy circulation 8)

No, I meant that the 81 and 83 demos plus the live recording of 85 were unheard before I sought them out a few years ago. There are no more studio recordings, according to Mårten Edlund.

Mordred:Stor tack for your initiative to uncover the demos by GC.I don't know how else we would be able to heard these great demos.

i've yesterday bought the edition of Nocturnal Rites with the first two remastered.Great metal for sure but Anders sound a bit different from GC had he lost a part of his divine voice? Why he left Nocturnal Rites?About Edlund no answered me will we able to reach him in order to convince him to reunite GC at least for one gig maybe he doesn't know that there are people that cuts their veins for GC.
I promise to come to Northern Sweden for this expected live whenever it happens 8)

GOTHAM CITY WILL RISE AGAIN!!!!

I was surprised today to find an e-mail from Björn-Erik Melander.Björn said that he still likes metal and working on a hard rock album. He was quite surprised that Gotham City is still a name of interest and a friend of his showed this forum.
Wait for further info on Neptune,Gotham City,Ola Ohlsson etc...We have discovered a treasure.Maybe i will tell him to sign-up here. 8)
