Not many do. However, there was something fishy about this auction. It showed up in my saved searches feed ending in 6 days. But when I clicked the link the auction had ended one day after auction start with just one bid. And there was never any Buy It Now option either that I could see. If the item was purchased as a BIN the text in the link above would show it, right?

Not many do. However, there was something fishy about this auction. It showed up in my saved searches feed ending in 6 days. But when I clicked the link the auction had ended one day after auction start with just one bid. And there was never any Buy It Now option either that I could see. If the item was purchased as a BIN the text in the link above would show it, right?

Somebody probably sent a message to the seller and they agreed on a price outside ebay. Then the seller retracts the item and he doesn't have to pay ebay fees.
As a buyer you take a lot of risk of course when you do it that way.

Indeed, judging by that Ebay site the item was sold at ebay with just 1 bid. And if it was an BIN auction there wouldn't appear the "1 bid" behind the price I think. Just that the item was sold.

Exactly. And if you click the "1 bid"-link you'll see that the auction ended after less than one day had passed.

Alternatives:
*The auction had a BIN option and a regular bid option, but something got messed up and the text don't recognize the auction as ending with a BIN.
*The auction was ended early by the seller, but something got messed up and the text don't recognize the auction as being pulled prematurely.
*Something else got messed up and ebay decided to end the auction prematurely.

We'll never know what happened, just that someone probably got a rare record for a bargain price. It's a cruel world.

I was watching it too. When I saw it had ended early I contacted the seller. This is what he told me:

"Hi, sorry I sold it to someone who offered a buy it now for $100 not $30 like what is said in the listing"

Makes me feel a little better, but the buyer still got a good deal, in my opinion.

You can see this from 2 sides. He paid around 120 $ with postage which is still alot of money, though cheaper than usual. But the record isn't ranking among the top US Metal bands for me musicwise. "Burned at the stake" sound pretty ok but the rest ... very unstraight and a bit strange imo. The artwork is an eyecatcher though ... so for 120 $ I'm not jealous.
I recently scored a Rolling Stones testpressing for 5,50 E ... that was a well calculated purchase ...

Dude, $120 for Hammerwitch "return to Salem"?!?! I'd do that all day every day and I own a copy! That ep shreds! What I'm not looking for are any Rolling Stones records, test pressings or otherwise! That dude got a great deal on a classic IMO. I for one am jealous--again, that record SHREDS. It's the 'exile on main street' of Texas private press metal records--and they are originally from Louisiana!!!

Yes, well on the early days of ebay and internet these mp3 weren't available as they are now, so it happened for quite a long time that CDr from these bands sold at 100$. But today these are everywhere and they are actually trying their best to make all this officially available again so I don't get it...
