Seriously??
It's frustrating to see labels coming out of nowhere and pressing tapes of already acknowledged albums instead of helping bands release new stuff; 'cause some of the new Ravensire material is -as expected- great and deserves label support. Enough fooling around with tape releases and other gimmicks.

Well, mate, you can always say that too thru pm in FB to Nuno.
Regarding to fans who don't like CD form - i don't see much of a problem with a mere 100 tapes edition.
There was people - and since the CD first came out - that really wished a vinil edition instead.
It seems there is a delay with that - i was informed generically.
The recordings of new material had to be paused, since the guy which the band works with has his agenda full until August.
And they don't wish somebody else here - and i agree. He is the man for the job. Besides being a professional, he understands the music the band performs and he is also a friend from several members.
I'm sure with the recordings finished, Ravensire "new stuff" will get "label support"

Not wild about tapes myself, never was but your rant is simply wrong. In about a third of the world the tape is still very popular and in the rich parts of the globe the cassette format is making a small comeback. Not a gimmick, the music landscape is just getting back what was carelessly destroyed by the majors labels in the early 90's.Trigger wrote:Seriously??

Nah...Don't fool yourself Lox! Tapes in 2015= 99% posing. They are made mainly to satisfy the "cult frenzy". Which cause do they really serve? Do they have better sound? Are they practical? Are they much cheaper?lox wrote:Not wild about tapes myself, never was but your rant is simply wrong. Re: RAVENSIRE (Port) - New album for this autumn on EAT METAL :
There's no rant when the main subject is that comeback or not, tapes will not help a band. We won't agree also that quantities of 100 will cover the needs of 1/3 of the world. Gimmick it is and cashing in on the band's back (especially when it is pressed for an already successful album, as it was also mentioned previously).

It's a great big conspiracy to release the demons that live inside CD's.Priamos wrote:Which cause do they really serve? Do they have better sound? Are they practical? Are they much cheaper?

None is ''cashing in'' on such band approved, limited tape releases, they can serve as a promo tool too. Even if one soulless hipster buys it, no harm done.

So rationalizing that too makes nothing left to be described as a "fad".

Re: RAVENSIRE (Port) - New album for this autumn on EAT METAL :
The nostalgia factor, tapes have build up the whole metal scene in the 80's and later in secondary markets like Greece, Poland etc. Cds and vinyl are just the same today, 90% of people just do not buy physical formats anymore, streaming (mostly for free) is the flauvor of the day. If a tape release cant help a band, so a CD or LP won't do the trick either.Trigger wrote:So rationalizing that too makes nothing left to be described as a "fad".
