tnk you folks

Agree on Anacrusis and Blind Illusion though they're quite known, i'd say.

Mesmerist I have never heard for.

Jester Beast I have read about. There was an interview in Italo Metal Hammer in 1991, but I ignored it. again

For F.U.C.T., COUP DE GRACE and STYGIAN i have also read about.

'Spectral Birth' is the Australian Thrash band once known as Incubus. They released 3 incredible demos in the late 80's. the 2 Spectral Birth demo's were re-issued a few years ago on vinyl thru Black Ace records! :D

I knew there was a thread like this from way back...

Some days ago I went through my collection looking for albums I haven't played for ages, partly to weed out some stuff for the record fair this weekend but also hoping to perhaps rediscover some forgotten oldies. After a few disappointments ATOMGOD's "History Re-written" hit me like fucking BOMB! My doG this is awesome!!

What we have here is highly original, progressive MetalThrash with British dirt and accents, fueled by haunting yet catchy vocal harmonies you rarely come across in Metal. The fantastic "Virgin Blood" is the closest thing I've ever heard to Metal-CARDIACS = very happy DaN :D

Other opinions?

..and does anyone know if the 1st album mentioned here really is the same band? If so, is it equally brilliant?

Interesting, that Wow! LP is onsale at a vinyl store near me.

I checked the info with internet, and he says they're the same group. But from what I've read, I doubt it sounds very similair...

The music on History Re-written is fairly well played, but I wouldn't call it progressive. Maybe "unbelievably melodic Warfare" tag would be more on the spot. Actually it sounds to me like a progression of A Conflict Of Hatred. Fast parts interchange with epic/ melodic ones (late English Dogs comparison?). The melodies, however, are quite common to my ears. The second half of album is more developed and Virgin Blood is definitely its highpoint. Interesting listen.

If Atomgod and Atomgods is the same band, then Wow should be more in the realm of early Warfare, I suppose.

@TheEvilWithinUs: What are you waiting? Go and check!

Edit: DaN, what have you weeded out for fair?

The only title I think would interest you would be Belgian tech/prog Thrashers MIND-RUIN.

Yes, a progression of late WARFARE would describe ATOMGOD rather nicely.

Mind-ruin are damn fine stuff. I have a copy already, but I wouldn't mind having another one  . Well, you will report how it went later.

Back to Atomgod: Virgin Blood and parts of Cesspit, Death Will Come From China and Rot In Burning Hell sound like from another album. Hmmm...

Think you could rip, upload & pm me the CD bonus "Rot In Burning Hell"? I only have the vinyl. Or maybe just rip the whole thing and share it Poisonoise - more people deserve to hear this little treasure.
