It's not really false advertising to write "Slayer" in the auction description. Tons of sellers put "private" in auction texts despite the fact that the record was issued by a record label.

The whole point is to get someone to notice the listing. How many people do you think are gonna stop and look at a single with nothing but 'Bent Sirkis' in the title? People add names like Slayer, Venom, Jag Panzer, etc to auctions all the time JUST TO GENERATE LOOKS. Sure, some will say "this doesn't sound like Slayer" and they move on. But some listen to the clip and think, "ok, this doesn't sound like Slayer, but it does sound pretty good, I'll bid on it".
And then there's you, who gets his panties in such a wad that the auction says Slayer and it doesn't really sound like Slayer that you go off whining on other sites muttering about "false advertising laws". I can't decide if you're pathetic or hilarious.

False advertising laws exist in some countries for a reason.
LOL Sure, let's prosecute someone for listing a band name in an auction when the band sounds nothing like the album being sold! That should result in what, about 10,000+ metal items on ebay being declared illegal on any given day? While we're at it, let's sue every seller who doesn't describe the condition of an item accurately enough. "You said VG+ but using the Goldmine grades I think this is only VG, so you are hereby being prosecuted for false advertising!".

You really don't understand one single thing about selling items, do you? I know 7-year olds who have more street smarts than you when it comes to buying & selling.

Tell ya what, you go track down a lawyer to take your case since that mean ol' ebay seller lied to you and tried to dupe you with their false advertising; I'm just gonna sit here and laugh at what an incredibly ignorant dumbass you are.

Morons like you constantly posting about things you clearly know nothing about are exactly why I quit posting here on a regular basis- you fill this site with crap.

The same seller have GRAFITTI 45 on auction and it's already 390 USD even musicaly it's just average Hard/Melo Metal single.I think it's again "First Time on ebay" phenomenon or I'm I wrong? On the other hand I would like to own BENT SIRKIS 45.But price is just out of my league. About advertizing on ebay... I do not give a fuck if someone use big names to increase atention or write something like "Uber Ultra Rare/Private/Indie Press Obscure blah, blah, blah".If I can afford it (And of course IF I like the music) I buy it.If not then ,maybe somenone who likes it can buy it.

I’m not talking about the auction title. I’m talking about the actual item description. The seller clearly states that the band was “inspired by Slayer” and yet this isn’t even Thrash Metal. Do you not see something wrong with that? I know many people that when they hear any fast music with a guitar they call it “Heavy Metal”. So based on your ignorant, generalizing thought process these people are also all correct, right? It doesn’t matter if it sounds like Slayer; Slayer is still an accurate comparison, right? You are a fool.

I also shouldn’t be surprised that you took what I said about false advertising laws and applied it to this auction in the most literal way possible. That was simply a statement to support what I said earlier. It was a simple reference that such laws do exist and are enforced in extreme circumstances. Obviously these are not to be applied to every single little anomaly.

That aside, I am willing to bet that I have successfully bought and sold more items in my existence on this planet that then you have. Just because you are willing to look past every incident where a seller clearly embellishes the truth for the sake of financial gain doesn’t mean that every one else is as much of a push over as you are. Some of us actually have a pair of balls and call bullshit when we see it. I suppose I’m lucky to possess this otherworldly ability because it prevents me from being ripped off. Something I’m sure you know a lot about with your naive way of thinking.

I agree with the message above.

I would also like to point out that the members here are generally a lot more well informed when it comes to metal than most other people. If I were to play a song by Slayer and a song by Bent Sirkis to my wife, she would have told me they sound very similar. Hell, to some people all metal bands sound exactly the same.

Would you call someone less knowledgeable a liar?

If you don't know how to describe the music of an item or your knowledge of the genre is very limited, it's better not to write anything about it, IMO. Put the info for the matrix numbers, the labels and the gradings, finish the description there and let the potential buyers make their choice. No need to misdirect them if you don't know what you're talking about.

I touched on this in my last post. I realize that there are many people with limited or no knowledge regarding Metal but adding those kinds of comparisons are ignorant. I have never met your wife (I'm sure she's a nice lady) but I really hate when people make generalizations when they have no idea what they are talking about. Like IB stated, it's better to just say nothing and let the buyer decide.

And I say - if a seller thinks Bent Sirkis sound like Slayer and writes this in the auction text, let him. Big whoop. :D

Correct, granted it is musically close to thrash or speed metal. OK, death metal bands have SLAYER influences as well, but you get my point. I'm pretty sure no one expects to hear something that sounds for example like QUARTZ or DEEP PURPLE when he sees in the description the word SLAYER.
