there are rumors that more copies of Detest have turned up....
A guy in here, (don't ask for names, if he wants he'll tell), is waiting for a copy or 2....

I know DaN found some copies last year, at least 3 I believe... As unknown as this is there has to be more floating around.

Even if a box are found, I still doubt it will reduce the price much.

Sorta depends on what the price is now :) If it's $100-200, then a box probably wouldn't affect the price too much- lots of folks would buy a copy for that price (I think).
However, the only approximate price point I have is that someone traded an original Street Child for a copy of Detest, and that was 1-2 years ago. SC was selling for about $1,000 at that time, so IF it was an even trade, then you could start there.
However, with a few Detest copies turning up here and there, the price will likely drop pretty fast. How many people like this record enough to buy it AND can afford to pay $1,000 for it? I doubt there are even 10 people world-wide who fit that description. Once those few 'mega collectors' each have a copy, the price will drop to whatever the 'second tier collectors' can afford to pay, which is often much less.

Kuntz & Fils made a good point above- a Swedish EP from 1990 isn't gonna create the same frenzy as an 80s US LP or NWOBHM 7", even if it's every bit as rare. SCRATCH is the only Swedish metal record I know of that consistently sells near the $1,000 mark, and that's likely due to it being 'adopted' by NWOBHM collectors :)

Personally I like the DETEST record, though it is kinda quirky, with every song having a slightly different style/sound. I'd pay a decent amount for a copy, but I could not/would not pay $1,000, and I will not get involved with a shady ebay seller who's juicing the bid.

At least 5 or 6 copies of Detest have been unearthed during the last year, possibly more. No, not by me, although I've been out there looking but others beat me to it.

http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 1438.l2765

Bidding has resumed on the Detest, and of course the shill is in the lead. If we were to turn the shill against himself, and increase our bids very slightly, making sure the shill wins, the seller will be forced to pay the largest possible auction fee, right? :?:

But I'm sure none of the die-hards will be able to keep from bidding a lot in the end anyway.

the shill will just retract his bid at the last minute if he's in danger of winning and re-enter a slightly lower bid in order to place 2nd.

And yes, someone is gonna buy the bloody thing in the end. It won't be me- I just found a better record from a more reputable source to throw my money away on :)

Not Ebay, but if you wanna get something unique and special, then this one should be interesting for you:

:D

(the CD version is still available for around 25€, but the vinyl version, as shown above, is much rarer than PARADOXX, etc...)

as if it wasn't obvious enough, that "bidder" repeated the same $450 bid that he retracted some days ago..

btw does anyone know for sure the seller/ shillbidder is indeed that Strappado fella? discussion went all the way as if that was granted.. just wondering

The ID is registered in Norway.

Edit: Account ID is:

As far as I know, he's only been bidding on Detester's auctions, no one else's. And check this one: http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0850031077

Now if that's not fishy I don't know what is. Oh, and both accounts mentioned above were generated within 5 days of each other.

I'm certain this thread is being closely watched by those involved, though.

yes that there is a shill is more than obvious.. what I meant it seems common sense that the seller is strappado (and I can't see why everyone is so sure about that, no idea about that swedish town the seller resides though..) not that the seller however it is has a shillbidder or the seller and the shill maybe are the same person. anyway, the dude in question usually reacts on being insulted here so if he doesn't, chances are not too bad that it's him..

Yes I was the one selling the MLP.

No I am not using shill bids, this is something that have been spread earlier by a specific "guy" when I sold off some records a few months ago. If I wanted to make huge money out of the LP I would have set a higer starting or a reservation price. 80$ was about what I found this copy for and therefore this was also the starting price.

And no I don't have 4-5 copies of the LP. I have 3 copies in my possession at the moment, soon only 1 again as one will find a new home at another Swedish collector and one will be sent out to the winner of the Ebay auction.

However I know it's no idea to sit here and defend myself when none of you will listen anyway. But if you have any questions just ask, I will be around.

Actually, ebay will be the one who'll judge him. For many here the case looked like blatant shill-bidding. But we don't have the means to verify that. So, we make our reports and ebay decides. It's as simple as that.
