One can always consider it as an added challenge :) Most semi-serious OOP CD gatherers like myself (I avoid the word collector on purpose) can still distinguish a boot from an original when they have it with 99,9% accuracy, so it is not all bad.
But when you hold them in your own hands it might be already too late.
Where were you in '79 when the dam began to burst

Good thing paypal/ amazon disputes exist :) But 99% of the time I can tell if the cd is a bootleg or not just from a picture of the cd. And usually the bootleggers on ebay have the same copy paste description for all the bootlegs they sell. On amazon and ebay its easy to spot bootleggers since they almost always sell a bunch of cds that were bootlegged not just 1. And on amazon you can add the cd to the cart and update the quantity and see how many copies they really have for sale.

I'm not a fan of that style of Death Metal. Especially the vocals.

Forgot about the $150 one from him but I figured it was a cdr bootleg since he was the seller. But there was 2 other copies there from 2 other sellers for $50 each. They each took like a week to sell after being put up for sale.
