Bootleg Warning Thread
I recently bought Virus - Pray For War off eBay and just a moment ago when I was about to give it a spin, this crappy lounge music starts to play. At first I thought if there's some crappy intro but it just goes on and on. I lift the needle and move it further and same shit music is still there. I automatically thought that someone must've been fucking around with the labels 'cause there seemed to be some pixels visible but then again same kind of effect is in the innersleeve. So am I just that misfortunate to have scored some shady mispress?

As some others stated as well, they are crappy but the majority (if not all of them) are legitimate or "semi-legitimate". The label owner seems many times to fuck the bands working with, but he has most of the times covered somehow (legally) his ass. I know many bands having issues with him but never heard any of them winning a trial against him or even trying.CloudsOfMetal wrote:Are some of the Unisound releases bootlegs?
This is probably the most contradictory statement that I've ever read.Priamos wrote:As some others stated as well, they are crappy but the majority (if not all of them) are legitimate or "semi-legitimate". There's also no such thing as "semi-legitimate". It's either legal or it's not. No signed contract means that it's a bootleg.
I've heard probably 4-5 stories about band members wanting to take legal action against the label but once you take into account the costs and the fact that the label is based out of greece it's not practical.

Hahaha, I just went over the couple of pages regarding that "conversation" and nearly forgot just how ridiculous it was.Herkus Monte wrote:http://www.thecorroseum.com/phpbb2/view ... &start=600CloudsOfMetal wrote:Are some of the Unisound releases bootlegs?

The violation of trust or spoken agreement, isn't punishable by laws but it's immoral. I used the term "semi-legitimate" for all these stuff but also contracts with many "small letters" made by professionals in order to deceive, especially all these small bands that don't have any legal consultants to protect them.

I bought that Dark Quarterer cd since it seems to be the only cd release of the the album and not a long time ago I found a thread about it on here where everyone complained about every aspect of that certain cd.Osmi_Putnik wrote:According to Denis from Sentinel Steel this is official releases from Unisound, he said that he work directly with members or representatives of these bands:

Oh god, well I'll see it by myself, I'm not very picky but if it's totally half-assed release where even tracks are listed wrong I will get mad.

I'm avoiding Unisound, Old Metal and Retrospect releases in a big circle because they are made cheap, crappy etc, etc...all in all B.A.D.CloudsOfMetal wrote:I bought that Dark Quarterer cd since it seems to be the only cd release of the the album and not a long time ago I found a thread about it on here where everyone complained about every aspect of that certain cd.Osmi_Putnik wrote:According to Denis from Sentinel Steel this is official releases from Unisound, he said that he work directly with members or representatives of these bands:
