I'll only bother with the old Evil Records stuff and regular CD versions of the later full-lengths. I'm sane enough to stay away from their ridiculous post-96 "discography".
Most of them are pretty worthless releases anyway, imo. I don't need 104 different live recordings of Black Fire.
It's a hobby/passion for me. Back in 2000 I started buying anything from Sabbat I could get my hands on and I still do it till this day. Just received the Evoke re-presses on Hells headbangers, though I absolutely don't need them. Sane/reasonable? Probably not. Does it make me happy? Yes. I'm just glad I'm not collecting Iron maiden or The misfits or other bands with extensive discography's of pricey releases...
Yeah, I understand. And since you've been doing it since 2000 at least you've been able to avoid most of the ebay mania that is associated with these items now. Anyway, almost no one in this hobby is truly sane.
