The bottom line is that the scope of this website/forum is dedicated to collecting and that being the case, my opinion is based from a collector stand point. If I purchased a copy of this the first time around I would be pissed off too. You don't market something as "limited edition" when it's not actually "limited edition".
Is it not that the first green vinyl handnumbered edition is the limited one? If Greg put out a run of 525 green vinyls, that would be shady, but what's wrong with pressing 525 of a different colour? The original limited green vinyl ones are the rarer ones now.
The release itself was marketed as "limited edition" not specifically the color of vinyl that the record was pressed on.

I see things never change greg. Your still making empty threats over the internet...

How about actually discussing the topic at hand? You are, after all, the cause of the issue.

I thought you were coming to my house to beat me up? You had my address, remember?

It looks like someone doesn’t know how to take a little criticism.

Quickest, cheapest and easiest.
In this logic there are only two kinds of fans: the ones who actually buy things and collect everything and those who only care about the music and have no need to buy anything. Where do people like me stand who like the music and like to have an original copy without giving a shit about details such as the color of the vinyl?

Maybe the 'limited pressing' announcement was wrong, however it's not the first time this happens and it won't be the last either. I guess some of the collectors might feel kinda exploited with this second run, but then again people who like spending money on obtaining two or three different color versions of an album that contains the same music usually don't have serious financial problems, one more different color version probably won't make much difference to their pockets. This second run gives the chance to more fans to get a copy and enjoy the music which is something positive. It's not as positive to the ones who like to collect everything, but we are not talking about the majority in this case. Most fans will definitely benefit from this second pressing.
Of course the statement you quoted is showing only the extremes and I know there is something in between.

But all in all it's very easy, this release was marketed specially to gain the interest from collectors (therefore the limitation that wouldnt have been neccessary otherwise) and as it sold better than expected, there's a new cash-in with the repress, that I'm sure wasn't planed from the beginning.

I would be interested to hear how John/OPM or Rob/DOOMED PLANET see this who are both registered here. They were among the first to do limited edition vinyl releases, and they never broke their word even though some/most of their releases sold well and quickly.

Honestly I dont understand the discussion. A promise has been made and wasn't kept, the limited edition was a lie, and still there's ppl. defending it.
This will not be the end of the world, but it still is wrong.

I know a lot of ppl. getting tired to collect new releases already, and yes, I'm one of them.

Promise? Have Eat Metal ever promised to never re-press 'Defenders...'? Can you quote it by chance?

The difference is that OPM/Doomed Planet were respectable labels. Eat metal is not.

It's really quite simple.

What does "limited edition" mean?

Rob has already quoted on that,so don't bother asking. You ask the opinion of a fan/collector and another one from a collector/dealer,what do you expect to get?But using the word "fraud" is quite harsh, don't you see?You should consider other things as more of a fraud in the record selling business but you probably avoid doing so for obvious reasons. Also, you don't call it a "fraud" when other labels-(buddies?) act in a similar fashion or even when the product offered is of questionable quality. If your question is whether Greg did it for collectors, then the answer is no,this release wasn't intended for collectors and the fact that not 5000 copies were made needs no explanation why.You take a risk when collecting records, that's what all collectors say till the LP is officially registered a collectible one, sometimes the risk is not coming through.

Is this supposed to be an insult?

Somebody whining because an LP being repressed makes their copy of the album less cool and special is the single gayest thing I've ever read on the internet.

You've got it all wrong. It's not about "cool and special", it's about the repress devaluing all the 'original' copies being hoarded for later profit. Greg has just taken a steaming shit on some stock portfolios.
