The Knell is back in action, that's good news, never mind his French ignorance.

did you try DER KAISER? I am also not very much into French Metal but this is a great album to me.

i've listened to some VENIN songs a few months ago via youtube. Not really a must-have if you ask me.

from a local used CD store 2 euro each! Merzy is VG and the other 2 in EX+ condition....
However, the Axtion CD smells like bootleg... the matrix code is AX-LOFTN/L8 anyone has the original?
The LP sleeve just mention vinyl and cassette versions. Are CD's from 1985 available? It's a bit too early especially for indie labels ...
Axtion was never officially released on CD although Mr. Vegas CD's will tell you otherwise with his "re-issue". There is also an identical greek bootleg of that Merzy CD that's been floating around since the early 00's.

I'm confused about this as I have probably 20+ CD's that were manufactured by American Discovery Systems that play without any problems. Yes, they are cheap and very thin, but I haven't had any issues playing them or having them chip apart like you say.

Perhaps it's your CD player?

I'm really not sure what do you want to say, maybe you can it explain a bit more detailed?
He's saying that it's not technically a "nice find" if you put up a lot of money for a record. It's a lot easier to find an album if you are willing to spend big bucks for it rather then if you actually seek to "find" a copy for a bargin or "fair" price.

EDIT: Looks like Khnud beat me to it.

Well out of about 14 or so cds I had made by them, 2 didn't work, the assassin one was put in one of those resurfacing machines by the seller so maybe that messed it up. But I also have Traffic's on the road cd made by them and that one wasn't resurfaced yet the side is chipped and despite it not having many scratches at all or looking messed up it skips on every song. It doesn't even look cloudy on the bottom like the assassin disc. I tried playing both on my computer cd player instead of my normal one, and they didn't skip, however they had a tremendous amount of background noise which made the cds unlistenable. I think the reason those 2 didn't work good is because the sides got chipped a little too much which left tiny holes in the disc which let the disc get oxidated therefore ruining most of the data. I have plenty of other cds and these discovery systems made discs are the worst since they didn't seal them up tight enough to prevent them rotting out the data and the plastic chips away easily, I put my fingernail on the plastic and it just chips right off. I've read on other forums that this is extremely common with these discs.

Or maybe because the disc was totally fucked in the first place and the seller put it through the machine to make it look salable even though it wasn't.

I hate those goddamn machines.

I've never had a problem with any Discovery disc (actually, iirc, the original Feel the Fire was made by them and it had a couple skips but I attribute that to it being scratched to shit, of course). Any plant can have some pressing flaws now and then, I have had mint, brand new, sealed (not re-sealed) discs from Nimbus, Disque Amerique, and one other unknown plant (never seen the matrix before, not a boot though, some old Wild Rags shit) not able to be read in any CD player or computer drive, just acted as if they were blank. And then of course the issue of the faulty lacquer on the early Nimbus CDs...

The worst part about that lacquer on the nimbus discs is that if you use water to remove it the water can go underneath the disc and mess up the data and peel off the silver layer on the top, I found out the hard way with my spare copy of Messiah force's the last day as you can see here:

My question is why the hell are you pouring water on CD's?

If you want to clean them there are special cleaners out there that can be bought for peanuts on ebay and do a great job. The only draw back is that most of the companies that sell over ebay will only deliver to the US but since you appear to live there it shouldn't be a problem.

I’m guessing that many of these issues that you appear to have were caused by your own actions.

Nothing must be used over the non-playing side of the cd. Never ever.

These 'special cleaners' don't give me any confidence either. On old cds the upper protective layer is so tiny and basicly non-existant that it becomes a total suicide to try anything.

If I used a cleaner I would still have to rinse the cd with water to get the cleaner off though. Yes I really fucked that cd up by trying to fix it after the water got underneath it. It would have maybe been okay if I left it alone but I didn't want it to get moldy so I tried to get the water out and failed as you can see. I just won't bother cleaning a cd with water anymore unless it doesn't work good and really needs it.
