I saw MetallicA 's name in a couple of post.
I like the way it sounds, and quite honestly, I really loved the name even more once I got to really enjoy the fact of the symmetrical logo, that had the shape of trapezoid. MetallicA's 1st album looks awesome on a wall next to Satan's "Court in the Act" and Diamond Head's "Living on Borrowed Time".
Metallica is alot better than Leather Charm, RedVette or Blitzer, that is for sure. I have a book called Encyclopeida Metallica, and I think it is some what cool to get a name from a book or a list of your best friends up and coming fanzine, Metal Mania is a better name for a magazine, Lars Ulrich was correct about that. This is somewhat better than getting a band name from another bands song title, or album title. Exciter is the exception to this rule because the band RULES.
Anthrax, was also mentioned, but for fans of Anvil, Riot, Accept, Raven. "Fistful of Metal" stuck out like a sore thumb in early 1984, and I snagged it based on its artwork alone. And I could careless of this bands moniker, because I have been a "Fistful of Metal"-era Neil Turbin fan ever since. I am glad to see Neil Turbin grace the cover of Snakepit Issuse # 19.
