Into the Depths of Sorrow for me!

Downfall ... I don't think I ever owe it, Through the Darkest Hour was probably the last I bought at real time, but didn't like it very much. It didn't match ItDoS, so I didn't invest much spare time into it back then.

Into the Depths of Sorrow includes such a killer tracks like Transcending Sentinels, Where Angels Dare To Thread, Destiny Falls To Ruin, Dream Of Immortality, ... Melodic invention mixed with grandeur. Yeah, probably invention is what I missed on the subsequent releases.

Quite funny, they were filed under Death Metal at my local supplier's store. Probably due to their release on Roadrunner (All the Blacks ???).

Agree with GJ, that I too should take more time for them in the future.

Music stores often just classify according to covers, records labels and other pointless criteria. I noticed that in Vienna, Austria all the gothic rock and anything gothic non-metal is in the "Hard and Heavy" section, bands like the Mission for example.

its a sin i know, but i dont own anything from this band, but with this thread i have a clear vision of what is priority next

my closest experience with them was KIT 6, imo the best band of the festival,wont forget that show ever

They were billed at one of the Milwakee Metalfests ('99) but didn't show; I suspect the shady promoter, Jack Koshnik, had put their name on the bill without getting a contract set first, and when the deal fell through he didn't take them off the bill. Never been so pissed in my concert-going life

Jack had a lousy rep as a promoter and I was glad to see his crap-fests disappear.

'Downfall' took a little getting used to for me at first; Chapel of Burning' and 'Death Wish' were the only 2 songs to immediately click when I first got it. Others grew on my pretty quickly with repeated listens.

'Alone' has been in the CD player all week, still digesting it...

The best epic doom metal band in metal history. No doubts about that. The problem is that the metal masonry strikes again as usual. If the majority thinks that IM's "number of the beast" is their best album, "master of puppets" for Metallica etc that means that it's correct...? That happens with the specific band as well as the most guys seems to prefer "into the depths" which has some killer songs but you can't recall & sing the other songs. I think the majority of traditional doomsters prefers the specific album because they can't stand that a good doom band could deliver catchy & powerful songs & not miserable ones as SA did with their "Beyond..." cd but especially in "through the darkest" (best lyrics of the band) & "Downfall" as well. Obey!

Yeah...catchy and powerful songs, thats why I love "Through the darkest Hour" and "Adagio" above them all.

I've got Adagio on LP and will try it again coming weekend.
