i'd be really curious to read that. does the ME press have a contact address for either the band or landslyde records?DaN wrote:THRASH QUEEN was actually interviewed in a very early (Norwegian language) issue of Slayer mag, when they had still only released a demo I think. I'll have to check my friend's old fanzine archive for the facts if no old Norwegian member beats me to it, but I'm pretty sure they were a legit US band at the time. What I would really like to see is picture-proof of an original Landslyde 1st pressing of the "Manslayer" album. The ME release says it was licensed from Landslyde, but unlike the KILLER FOX(X) original LP I've never ever seen this one...khiijol wrote:ah i think that morsure album is great!
does anyone have any information on the (original) thrash queen? its pretty clear that the "ashes to ashes" band is a metal enterprises engineered project, but i have my suspicions about the "manslayer" band as well. the sheer ineptness far surpasses stuff like deliverance, NME, random e. euro/south american/se. asian demo bands, and the whole thing just reeks of outsider exploitation. much like godfrey ho's early forrays into the kung-fu genre, the films appeared to be legit before he went into some really strange filmmaking, but are terrible all the same. was this band actually from the USA? metal-archives credits "Lanslyde Records" as being the original label that released this, but from what i can tell this is the only thing that label has put out, and its strange that metal enterprises would randomly pick up on it to license it. its a bit hard to discern an accent as the vocals are so poorly recorded

No, nothing like that at all. The Landslyde label is shrouded in complete mystery I'm afraid. I've been trying to compile a discog-page about them in the past, but there simply isn't any info to be found anywhere - probably one of those money-laundering-scheme thingies that weren't too uncommon in the sleazy 80's. The only releases I know of are the original KILLER FOXX lp, the equally awful HUNTER lp and this supposed THRASH QUEEN original.khiijol wrote:i'd be really curious to read that. does the ME press have a contact address for either the band or landslyde records?
I don't know when I will have the next opportunity to check those early Slayer-mags (they were featured in #1 or #2 I think) but maybe Knut, Marken or some other 'lusekofta' can help out?

ahh i was unaware killer fox was originally on landslyde (mispelled as 'lanslyde' on m-a) - didn't know about hunter either. a google search turns up a mention in Rock Hard magazine, issue #14, which is coincidentally enough, also a German magazine. they dont have the interview published online, but from what i can tell from the text on the site (i'm not a german speaker, filtered through the poor google translation), that issue hyped up both the TQ and hunter releases really hard

This is funny... First off I just remembered I do have the HUNTER lp myself and when looking at the back sleeve the name of the label is indeed Lanslyde and not Landslyde. Unfortunately this spelling-correction didn't improve my google results much
I think I'll crop off this discussion to a separate topic btw...

Sorry, I don't have those old Slayer mags. There's been talk for a few years that they were going to be reprinted, but nothing has surfaced.DaN wrote:No, nothing like that at all. I don't think this was a ripoff/sploitation label. It was started up by a guy who received a bunch of money from a car crash that left him without the use of his legs....if I recall correctly. Something like that. I think he just liked metal and wanted to do something with the money, but really had no idea what he was doing. I talked to the guy, but it was over 20 years ago!! Probably have some files on those bands around here still.
