I only got to listen via an mp3 player connected to a smallish boom box, but I hardly noticed any keyboards. Only complete ownage.

Bane (cheers, man!) might tell you more though.

Kev Bower was kind enough to post me a couple of tracks to share (via a listening capacity and not mp3/wav!) with some friends so I gave Dan, Khnud and a couple of other guys at Headbangers a listen. They were "Plague & Fyre" and "Blasphemy & The Master". I don't know what you mean by Dimmu keyboards because those tracks are simply out-fucking-standing, and I can say that without any hesitation. I was blown away after even the first 2 listens and they've just got better and better with each subsequent one (and that number must be well over 20 at this stage).

Musicianship aside, the two songs are just shy off their final mix (I've been told) but the sound is amazing. I said it on another forum, but it feels like a shroud has been lifted off those 10th generation tapes and we finally get to hear the real Hell. The guitars are so heavy and the new vocalist pays a pretty incredible tribute to Halliday. They're just as haunting and demented.

I doubt everyone will like the new songs. I personally can't understand why (unless the remaining 9 tracks are sooooo shit, which I find virtually impossible to fathom), but I guess some people are just purists through and through. It's a shame though, as they will be probably be missing out on a genuine metal classic. There's little Kev & co. can do to convince those people though.

(Btw to Khnud and the rest of the Hell fan I met, it was a pleasure meeting you!)

I'm normally a purist, but can honestly say:

If you like the old Hell stuff, and you choose to pass this one out, you're retarded. :)

I STRONGLY 2nd Bane & Khnud's sentiments. These recordings blew me away completely. No - it's NOT "overproduced" or "ruined" - quite the opposite. It's hauntingly heavy, crystal clear and the strenght of their musical legacy is finally getting the chance to shine.
...And no, I didn't notice any "Dimmu"-keyboards either. If keys were used, they were done so very tastefully and totally melded in the overall sound
...But the main strenght here is the vocals. This guy has all the theatrics and insanity of Haliday in him and I could never in a million years imagine how they could be done better.

It's just bloody perfect so ease up on the apocalyptic nightmares and have some faith folks, lest I will have to tell you "Told ye so!" and kick thy aerses in many futures to come..

Well, I don't know if I'll be a retard if I like it or not - this is a decision for me to make, but the one thing which is retarded for sure is this overhyped "it is so awesome but you're not cool enough to hear" suspense.

If there are two songs given around, they should be up somewhere for EVERYONE to hear and make their own minds.

End of rant and all the best to everyone involved.

You've totally got the wrong end of the stick. It's not a case of "look at me, I got to hear a couple of songs" - the ONLY reason I posted up my opinion was to try and dispel all the negativity here surrounding an album people haven't even heard. Would you rather I kept my opinion to myself and let this thread carry on for another 12 pages about how shit the album is going to be??

If the shoe was on the other foot, I would be delighted for you and a few people who heard just a couple of songs jump into this thread and say, "actually, the songs I heard rule!". It would give me a glimmer of hope. I would rather get excited about the output of a band than dread it. It seems from the last several posts by other Corroseum members that they feel the same way.

I'm not going into the reason why Kev Bower gave me the two songs, and yes in a perfect world everyone would hear them, but rest assured there is a legitimate reason why he hasn't posted any online yet (and why I gave my word I wouldn't). That's all I'm saying on that matter.

Honestly, I think you're getting your knickers in a twist over nothing.
