German Metal in the 90's

Post by Kostello »

In a shameless attempt to promote HolySword I have decided to post the musical “guide” to the tribute we did to 90’s German Metal. So, download this compilation, download (and then BUY) our fanzine at www.holysword.gr and read the tribute among the other fine features.

I haven’t included songs from BUCKSHOT (I don’t have or even heard this one) and MORBID JESTER (never liked them, I only have their albums on tape, so…). Note that the DECEIVER song is a demo version taped from a friend as my vinyl ripping skills are very poor (read: non-existent).

Enjoy!

The tracklist is:
1. ATTACK – Fighter (actually the version from the “Revitalize” CD)
2. CASTLE WELL – Life is a long hard Fight
3. COURT JESTER – King of Masquerade
4. DECEIVER – Children of the Storm
5. EMBARGO – Find, hit and kill
6. FERNGULLY – Living from the Past
7. FLYING SKULL – Take my Hand
8. HEAVENWARD – The Sky
9 & 10. LIGHTMARE – Theme of Rebellion/Rebellion
11. REACTOR – Into Blood and Fire
12. REAPER – Voices from the Sky
13. REPRESSION – Boys night out
14. SHARATAN – The Autumn Ghost
15. TUSH – Never Again
16. VERTIGO – The Avenger
17. VIKINGS – Valley of the Deers
18. VOLTAGE – Darkness
19. WIZARD – Enemy Die!

Great compilation, will check it out!

REACTOR are from my home town by the way, i saw them play in the late 90s, really nice guys and good musicians. I never liked their singer though, but on stage it worked out alright. Most of their albums they sold in Japan, that's what they told us after the gig.
Where were you in '79 when the dam began to burst

i used to have lots of snail mail with markus(guit). i did an intie with him after revelation was released for a greek zine.loveable guy, like the vast majority of german dudes were back in 90's. revelation was a major hit in japan selling more than 20 000 copies and entering their charts.

still can't understand how such a great band as sharatan turned to bedroom vlack crap.i guess hell ain't half full yet(to quote from one of reactor's anthems...).

stunning. great idea to upload your own music compilations... there's nothing like checking out a batch of kick arse bands you mostly didn't know about previously. metal on!
