Nocturnus: The Key

Ich kann mit Death Metal eigentlich kaum was anfangen, zugegeben. Aber das Debut von Nocturnus hat seit jeher einen Ehrenplatz in meiner Sammlung! Warum? Augenscheinlich: das Cover, genial gemalt! Pentagram im Logo? Böööse;-) Musikalisch waren Nocturnus die erste Death Metal Band, die Keyboards in ihren Sound integrierten, ja zu einem Hauptbestandteil machten. Aber anstatt die Aggression / Power der Musik zu mindern bzw. ins melodische zu ziehen, bekam ihr Sound eine unverkennbare, geniale Note, eine Einzigartigkeit, die bis heute für mich unerreicht ist. Nocturnus zelebrierten auf dieser Sternstunde den Tod in brachial/genialer Weise, treibend, zerstörend und gnadenlos, aber doch eingängig, durchdacht und unverkennbar. Ich kann hier keinen Song rausheben, nehmt euch mal nen verschneiten Abend, schaltet das Licht aus, nehmt nen Drink und lasst euch auf die (mit Sinn, Verstand und Konzept!) erdachte Welt von Nocturnus ein - wer mit derart harten, aber technisch hervorragend umgesetzten Gefilden arbeiten kann, wird die Scheibe hoffentlich so lieben, wie ich!

I really don't like Death Metal, I confess... But the debut album of Nocturnus is a classic to me! Why? Well, the cover ist brilliant, a pentagram in the band logo is eeevil and their music still is awesome! Nocturnus were the first band to use keyboards as foundation of their sound and up to now, they remain unique to me! Power, aggression, recognition value, technical capability - all top-level! So take some time, turn off the lights, have a drink - and enjoy the conceptually brilliant world of "The key"! Hope you'll love it as much as I do!
