Last Empire: Heir to the throne

Da war ich doch mal gespannt, wie sich das zweite Album von LAST EMPIRE schlagen würde. Kommen wir gleich mal zum Gesang. Der wechselt zwischen unerträglich hoch und beim ersten Song seltsam tiefgestimmt. Auch wenn Brian Allen bei MALICE war, möchte ich hier festhalten, daß der Mann nicht wirklich singen kann.

Das heißt, er trifft zwar die paar Töne, die er treffen muß, hat aber weder Ausdruck noch Volumen in der Stimme. Das ist bei den eher langweiligen Kompositionen der Band nun auch nicht wirklich entscheidend. Ich bin enttäuscht. Ok, sagen wir noch ein paar Worte. Der Sound ist gut, das Cover schlecht gemalt und typisch 80er mäßig, aber irgendwie völlig belanglos. Selbst gute Ansätze wie "Enemy", die eigentlich vom Songansatz her spannend sein könnten, werden durch das gräßliche Gequieke des Frontschweins abgewürgt. Schade.

The vocals are the big minus of this band. Brian Allen joined MALICE many years ago, so if you are a fan of this band probably you will like the music because its more or less good played 80s Metal with not too many surprises. Some good songs were destroyed again from the vocalist. So "Heir to the throne" is for US-Metal fans only and especially for the ones who are addicted to very high voices and don't care about
voluminous timbre. The ridiculous coverartwork makes the whole stuff not really more interesting....
