Review

NWOBHM sounding from Melbourne Australia, Virgin Soldiers were kicking it around the Oz pubs and beer barns since the very early 80's scoring a few goals in the international metal press. A mix of new wave British metal influences with heavy oz boogie rock complemented by solid punchy production. Starting with a rocked out rendition of the Beatles number Come Together perhaps not all that necessary for a band capable of churning out some strong materiel of their own. The good stuff soon follows though - Danger In The Night has a pulsing eighth note boogie bass line, Counting The Days a great chorus hook and closer Lonely Nights could have been sold off to the Scorpions in the late 70's for a pretty penny. A pioneering act in the Australian true metal landscape, Virgin Soldiers were one of the first and decades on should be commended for their efforts. Heed the warning on the LP sleeve THIS RECORD MUST BE PLAYED AT FULL VOLUME!
