Review

I remember this band pretty well coz you could find them on almost every thanx list in the very early 90's so that made me curious naturally. I found their 12" many moons ago in the mid 90's for about 4 $ and was pretty pissed off when I heard them the first time. I think this is the first time in about 10 years that I put this vinyl on my turntable again and what a surprise I think nowadays that it is at least "ok" sounding. They are far away from being called exciting or essential, just playing a kinda half-decent midpaced Thrash that might be executed pretty ok, but the songwriting appears more modern than oldschool oriented. Especially "Slow ticking clock" shows typical 90's Thrash tendencies and here even the vocals do sound pretty much annoying. Both tracks on the flipside don't raise the creeping tempo at all except of a few parts on "The sacred words" but at least on these 2 trax Winter of Torment do prevent the listers bored yawning. Both do offer alot more variation in the songs structure itself mixed with some technical Schnickschnack and also the vocalist is gleaming in a totally different light. Maybe 2 different recordings? However, only for people who can bear slightly modern Thrash that's more or less Power/Thrash because creeping Thrash isn't Thrash imo. Pretty rare piece nowadays with nice cover...
