Pagan Altar: Mythical and magical

Ein sehr ästhetisches Cover macht "Mythical and magical" zu einem echten Schmuchstück! Aber natürlich ist der Sound noch wichtiger und wie schon bei den Vorgängeralben überzeugen auch hier die NWoBHM-angelehnten Songs und der eigenständige etwas gepresste Gesang. Leider ist das Booklet dürftig, wie schon bei den Vorgängeralben. Warum haben Black Widow nicht die neue CD gemacht. Hier wäre die Band sicherlich künstlerisch am besten aufgehoben, wenn man allein die LP "Judgement of the dead" betrachtet. Ansonsten gibt es nichts zu meckern. Eine der wenigen eigenständigen englischen Bands. Ganz stark!

The very fine artwork of "Mythical and magical" is an eyecatcher and gives an impression about the music. Like on the other albums of PAGAN ALTAR the songs are -according to the title- mystique and magic. The voice of Terry Jones fits perfect to the unique melodic NWoBHM-Metal-like songs and this is the big advantage of the band. They sound unique which is something really extraordinary by regarding the typical english (Hard Rock-)scene of today. The only negative point is the cheap booklet which gives no information about lyrics or something else. I would love to have this album in LP-format made by the masters of good quality-pressings: Black Widow. Lets hope they will do it and we get a quality-work like "Judgement of the dead". In the meanwhile we hear "Mythical and magical" which is a real highlight of hard rockin' music.
