Lyin Rampant: Up and comin

Der sleazige Name, das sleazige Cover und die sleazigen Songtitel lassen Schlimmes erahnen, tatsächlich aber sind LYIN RAMPANT eine zu Unrecht untergegangen Band, die zwar Sleaze-Elemente verarbeitete, aber dank des kräftigen Sängers und der niemals flachen aber trotzdem eingängigen Songs mehr Aufmerksamkeit verdient gehabt hätte.

Gerade im Bereich Songwriting waren LYIN RAMPANT vielen anderen Bands des Genres um Längen voraus. Am ehesten würde ich LYIN RAMPANT mit RANKELSON vergleichen. Wem diese Band gefällt, kann bei einem Kauf nichts falsch machen. Ab und zu lohnt es, sich durch Tonnen an seichtem Kommerzrock zu hören, um die eine oder andere wirklich gute Scheibe zu finden.

LYIN RAMPANT were musically close to RANKELSON. That means they had really good songs, power and a strong vocalist. In that late 80s there were a lot of bands having more hairspray-attitude, less talent, less good songs but more success.

Maybe the reason why LYIN RAMPANT never made it was, that their music was not 100% "middle of the road" enough. The end of the 80s decade showed bands with polished productions, stadion-Rock songs containing boring hooks made for 12 year old women. All this you will not find at LYIN RAMPANTs album. Good for us today, bad for the band 20 years ago.
