Drifter: Tales of Dragonia & Beyond the burning circles

"Reality turns to dust" war meiner Ansicht nach eines der besten Thrash-Alben, die bis dato veröffentlicht wurden. Das Zweitwerk von DRIFTER "Nowhere to hide" hatte mit dem Debut nicht mehr viel zu tun und konnte mich nicht ansatzweise überzeugen. Das erste Demo "Tales of Dragonia" hatte ich mir damals nicht angehört und nur erfahren, daß die Band damals noch etwas weniger heftige Sounds gespielt haben sollte. Dies bestätigt sich umgehend, wenn man "Tales of Dragonia" in den Player steckt. Das ist purer 80er Heavy Metal, manchmal sogar noch mit ein paar NWoBHM-Wurzeln ("Land of Fantasy"). Es ist aber schon einiges an Power zu spüren und die Songs waren auch schon auf überraschend hohem Niveau. Viele Bands hatten Vinyl veröffentlicht mit weit schlechterem Songmaterial. So hat "Tales of Dragonia" auf jeden Fall seine Berechtigung. Das zweite Demo auf der CD "Beyond the burning circles" enthält den Song "The elder" der so eine Art Verbindungsglied zwischen "Tales of Dragonia" und dem späteren Debut-Album "Reality turns to dust" darstellt. Die restlichen Songs sind Demo-Versionen des späteren Debut-Albums und sicherlich für jeden Fan der Band interessant!

Pure Heavy Metal, so if you like the last album "Nowhere to hide" better listen first to "Tales of Dragonia" before you buy it. If you are a fan of the legendary "Reality turns to dust"-album I am quite sure you will also like this Demo-rerelease (in very fine sound-quality) although the band was not near to Thrash-Metal at this times, but still the songs can convince with a unique feeling. "The elder" from the "Beyond the burning circles"-Demo was far more near to the follow-up and very good. The rest of the Demo are versions to the later used songs on "Reality turns to dust" and very interesting for every fan of the band and friends of unique musique!
