Danger: In control

Review

War das Debüt ja eine Sensation an musikalischer Qualität und ist uneingeschränkt jedem Heavy Metal-Fan zu empfehlen, sind beim Nachfolger "In control" nach wie vor zwar absolute Ohrwürmer vorhanden, Songs wie "Bad is good", "Tomorrow glitter" oder "If looks could kill" pendeln dagegen bedächtig im Mittelmaß. Ich würde einfach mal sagen: Wenn Ihr den Sprung von "Futureworld" zu "Jump the gun" (Ihr wißt, welche Band ich meine) verkraftet habt, gefällt Euch "In control" auch nach dem Überwerk "Keep out". Letztendlich würd das etwas komerziellere den typischen 80er Metal der Band nicht allzu sehr stören, da man immerhin 13 Songs im Gegensatz zu 9 vom Debüt auf das Album gepackt hat und damit ein paar Lücken verkraftbar sind, was aber mich wirklich nervt, ist die völlig lieblose Aufmachung. Das Cover ist sleazig wie schon das Debüt, ok, aber es gibt weder ein Booklet noch irgendwelche Infos. Billiger gehts nicht, die Band verlangt aber trotzdem Vollpreis. Das extrem hohe Porto von Schweden (liegt nicht an der Band) kann man sich natürlich sparen, wenn man hier in Deutschland bei den mailorders kauft -was auch den Bands insgesamt mehr zu Gute kommt, da sich kein Label für Bands interessiert, die für mailorders uninteressant sind und deren CDs nur von den Bandwebseiten zudem noch zum gleichen oder höheren Preis gekauft werden-, aber auch im CD-Niedrigrpreisland Deutschland bleiben immer noch ein paar Taler übrig, die für dieses fiese Pappteil zu berappen sind. Was soll ich dazu sagen? Musikalisch ist genug drauf, was einen Kauf rechtfertigt, Eingängigkeit ist Trumpf, aber die Aufmachung wird viele abschrecken und ich frage mich, ob nicht zurecht....

The debut was nearly a sensation in the tradition of melodic Metal-bands from Skandinavia like PRETTY MAIDS, ALIEN FORCE or MINDLESS SINNER, that many people were very curious about the second album. We have 13 Songs this time (4 more than on the first album), its acceptable to find there some average titles like "Bad is good", "Tomorrow glitter" or "If looks could kill", because there is still enough fine powerful stuff with strong melodies ("Tonight", "Here I am", "On the run", etc.), but a real big negative point is the presentation of the CD. It is like a LP-replica on CD but without insert, information or anything else. That means something absolutely cheap-made, also the coverartwork fits to that. Many buyers will think twice about buying this album in this format, because a collector or a fan wants a nice booklet and a "real" album. Otherwise he can burn down the songs on a CDR and has nearly same (although the CDR will not survive much longer than 7-10 years, because of its technical limits). But back to the music: in direct comparision I would prefer the first album, but I won't like to miss a song like "White lines" from the second. If you don't care about art, layout and a real professional made CD, the music on this item has many things to offer to make you happy.
