Review

Foreign Legion's Debüt zählt zum Kreis der 10 besten Metal Vinyls aus Südkorea. Und auch hier gibt es wieder ein für dieses Land typisches Covergemälde zu bestaunen, dass mich an den Grundkurs in perspektivischem Denken erinnert.
Die 5 Boys hatten sich irgendwie dem europäisch geprägtem Heavy Metal verschrieben, jedenfalls fühle ich mich eher an eine deutsche Band erinnert denn an andere koreanische Truppen, was lediglich durch den Gesang rüberkommt. Und als würde mein Glück niemals enden, röhrt Lim Jae-Bum ordentlich in sein Mikro. Kein Gejaule, kein "Töne-nicht-treffen", keine Experimente, nee, der Typ konnte richtig singen und zwar in verschiedenen Tonlagen und manchmal lugt da sogar ein Ansatz von Chris Boltendahl hervor. Aber wartet, es geht noch weiter, der Metal den sie fabrizierten, sprühte nur so über vor Power und Brachialität! Alles, Rhythmusarbeit und Gitarrensoli, wurde exzellent umgesetzt. Einzig und allein den Speed hatten sie nicht unter Kontrolle. Das ganze Album beschränkt sich nur auf stampfende Midtempobanger und 3 Balladen. Wenigstens einen Speedhappen hätte ich mir dann doch gewünscht. Aber man kann halt nicht alles auf einmal haben. Foreign Legion waren in der südkoreanischen Metal Szene eine Macht für sich. Dieses Album ist der Beweis!

Another first class Metal album from Asia I can luckily introduce with the debut of Forein Legion, a band from South Korea whose musicial style does remind me alot to european Metal than the typical asian sound. You'll listen to an album consisting of brutal pounding midtempo Metal which is already bordering on Power Metal and 3 ballads. Like we are all used to know the musicians are well trained artists, drilled to fire up power riffs like it would be the easiest thing on earth! Excellent rhythm and solo guitar work will lead you thru an outstanding Metal LP from that small country and especially the over the top vocals of Lim Jae-Bum will drive you insane with it's brutal undertone (almost reminding to Chris Boltendahl) but in the next minute he's singing so sweet and full of emotions which is quite impressive and makes the only LP of Foreign Legion something special! Buy or cry!
