Dionysus: Vol.2-Excalibur

Hier haben wir nun das Sahneteil, den heiligen Gral in Sachen Korea Metal. Normalerweise schalten Bands auf den nachfolgenden Alben immer einen Gang runter, nichtso Dionysus. War "Legend of darkness" schon eine Ausnahmealbum, so verdoppelten die 4 Burschen ihr Potenzial mit "Vol. 2 - Excalibur". Glücklicherweise durfte Stimmwunder K.S.C., der schon "Penitential tears" auf dem Debüt einsang, diesmal alle Songs stimmlich vergolden, zumindest die die Vocals bekamen. Ähnlich wie bei "Legend of darkness" setzt sich "Excalibur" aus einem Sammelsurium an wuchtigen, progressiv-düsteren und extrem spielfreudig umgesetzten, epischen Power Metal Granaten zusammen. Dabei bekamen diese Nummern durch gezielte Keyboardeingriffe eine sagenhaft mystische Atmosphäre verpasst, wie sie einzigartiger nicht sein kann. Alles scheint darauf hinauszulaufen, dass das primäre Ziel der Musiker die Schaffung eines Meisterwerkes welches Jahrhunderte überdauert gewesen sein muss. Und irgendwie haben sie das auch geschafft. Soviel Gefühl, kompakte Technik und songschreiberische Überlegenheit gepaart mit expliziter Heavyness und Ausdrucksstärke hört man nur seltenst und lässt "Vol. 2 - Excalibur" in die Hall of fame des Power Metals eingehen. Eines der 7 Weltwunder des Heavy Metals! Ausreden bei Nichtbesitz sind in diesem Fall unakzeptierbar, dann esst halt eine Woche nichts, aber kauft diese Platte, bei mir läuft das auch nicht anders!!!

Without any doubts "Vol. 2 - Excalibur" is the holy grail of korean Metal and a worldwide milestone in the progressive Power Metal genre. Usually bands produced alot more softer albums after their overwhelming debuts but in case of Dionysus they accomplished their holy mission to compose a timeless Metal classic and enter the eternal hall of fame with it! Compared to "Legend of darkness" Dionysus progressed their songwriting on "Excalibur" even more and added atmospheric keyboard sounds that created a mystical atmosphere which in combination with the superior guitar massacre of B.J.B. reproduced an unbeliavable epic, progressive and gloomy Power Metal album that is full of emotions and technical surprises as well as it shows Dionysus' superiority in case of the songwriting compared to common bands. Vocalist K.S.C. who already sung on "Penitential tears" on the debut was chosen to sing on the whole album this time which was a good turn at all coz he might be one of the best korean Metal vocalists. I'm not exactly sure if the word "unique" is enough to label "Excalibur" but it comes at least close to it and there are no excuses at all if you don't own this album, eat less = buy more Metal!!!!
