Up Lapsus: Tormenta!/Astronauta Loco

"Ey Caramba!" möchte man fast losschreien! Gewohnt mit bratzigem Scheppersound präsentieren die Peruaner Up Lapsus 2 Songs, die für mich in Sachen unbekanntem Südamerika Metal die bisherige Entdeckung des laufenden Jahres sind, was zum einen daran liegt, dass ich eigentlich recht gut in Sachen Südamerika Vinyl informiert bin, aber von dieser EP, geschweigedenn von dieser Truppe, noch nie irgendeinen Pieps vernommen habe und zum anderen sind beide Songs alles andere als schlecht. Auch wenn "Astronauta Loco" nicht ganz mit dem zügigerem "Tormenta!" mithalten kann, bin ich wieder einmal hin und weg. Während "Astronauta Loco" deutlich mit 70's lastigem AC/DC Sound liebäugelt (inkl. Vocals), prescht "Tormenta!" getreu dem Songtitel los als würde es morgen verboten werden. In etwa einem Mix harter Deep Purple (inkl. Hammond-Orgel) und einem gewaltigem Schuss der Venezuelatten Arkangel (1. LP) ähnelnd, obendrein vocalmäßig Paul Gillman gleichtuend mit diversen Ausflüchten in weitaus sauerstoffärmere Regionen und einem Schuss Epik stampfen die Burschen einen Trampelpfand in meine Gehörgänge, dass ich gar nicht mehr von "Tormenta!" lassen kann. Also, an alle Fans obskurer Hard Rock Bands und Freunde früher Metal Klänge, Up Lapsus = kaufen!

Like the most of you south american Metal lovers do know, the sound these bands created has always been a bit raw with a slightly basement flair and that's the same sound Up Lapsus from Peru used to play. This EP and the band itself was absolutely unknown to me till 1 month ago when I bought this copy and to be honest I was a
little bit scared but now all fear is gone and everything I can advice is that if you like 70's influenced obscure Hard Rock, then you can't escape Up Lapsus. Both tracks are slightly different in style, "Astronauta Loco" sounds alot AC/DC influenced including the typical vocals while "Tormenta!" got alot more of an early Metal anthem. Alot more pounding, sounding like a mix of heavier Deep Purple and a strong piece of Arkangel (1st album of the legend from Venezuela) incl. kinda Paul Gillman vocal style with many higher parts as well and an sentimental epic note that makes "Tormenta!" something special in my opinion. Needless to say how rare this EP is but perhaps you'll find a copy by an accident like I did. Good luck!
